I KNOW!!! Led Zeppelin pretty much handed the blueprints to bands today and they F it all up with pop and rap and complete garbage!. My dream is to start a band and make an album for every old band (example: make an album with Led zeppelin sounding music, an album with AC/DC sounding music, one for Pink Floyd,Black Sabbath, The beatles, Hendrix ect!. ) and not have just one particular sound!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
I agree with A man could Stand: It's all about the severely handicapped attention span of the modern music industry's target demographic!. Lyrical depth and musical integrity are dwarfed almost into non-existence by the "necessary" image of pop stars!. With the advent of autotune and the radio-friendly three-and-a-half minute song, we are getting stuff like Rhianna and Three Days Grace pushed upon us!. Seriously, compare bands like Zeppelin, Sabbath and Jethro Tull to Three Days Grace!. It's shameful!. As long as there is a "bumpin'" beat in a song, or a simplistic, catchy guitar line, the youth of today will be captivated!. Look at American Idol, for example: over 30 Million people all tuning in to something at the same time every week!. It smacks of mind control to me!. It's truly heartbreaking that music is about pumping out singles as quickly as possible now, instead of crafting an album, something that could establish itself in the ranks of the timeless!.
But if you're jonesing for good music, some great prog acts are Opeth, Porcupine Tree and The Ocean!. For rock and roll, The Sword or Saviours are both excellent!. For Hip Hop, Styles of Beyond or K-OS are good!. If contemporary music is more your thing, check out AU4 from Canada!. Their album On:Audio is one of the best records to be released in the past decade!.

Even though bands like Led Zep were pioneers in creating an audio AND visual experience with their music, their primary focus was still on the music!.!.!.!.on the content of the lyric and sound!.
Today, music and video are inseperable!.!.!.!.You can still hear amazing original music in clubs across the country, but since these bands just don't have "the look, " you'll never see them get broad exposure!.
You always had songwriters and frontmen!.!.!.!.but the "greats" were the artists that did both!.!.!.!.Floyd!.!.!.Zep!.!.!.hell, even Bob Dylan and The Skorpions!.!.!.!.and so on!.!.!.

I agree that the state of the music industry is something to be ashamed of!. That said, the reasons why Led Zeppelin and those great bands "cant be touched" has alot to do with your perception as well!.
Led Zeppelin (like Hendrix, The Beatles, Rolling Stones!.!.etc) did plenty of "borrowing" from the old bluesmen and the standards of their generation!. That music has stood the test of time, but it wasnt the most unique!.

Corporate greed had dictated to the majority what is considered 'Good' and 'Not So Good' music!. It is their goal to make a quick buck by promoting the act that will do that for them then they will move on to the next act!. The most money they will make in the least amount of time with the least amount of money spent seems to be their formula!. Radio DJ's no longer have as much say as to what they want to add to their playlist, instead the CEO's dictate that to them because they are in control because everything (Especially Radio Stations) has become corporatized!. They don't care for longevity, they want money and they want it now!Www@Enter-QA@Com
Tell You what!. Maybe You need to expand Your horizons!. Do You like Heavy Metal at all!? Because Metal is alive and well!.
