The Ramones are considered the first main-stream punk band brah, I don't really know who is the first!. I don't think anyone knows brah!.

The Sex Pistols started out in 1975, while the Ramones started in 1974 dudes!.
Some other notables that are also wrong!.
MC5- While they did form in 1964 before both bands above, they are considered pychadelic rock and not punk!.
The Stooges- Formed in 1967, but were considered punk in the mid 1970's, before they were just pychadelic rock!.
The Addicts- 1975, after the Ramones

Credit usually goes to the Ramones!. Bands like the Stooges, MC5, New York Dolls, the Dictators, the Deviants, and the Modern Lovers were definitely punk influences, as were pub rock bands like Dr!. Feelgood, Eddie and the Hot Rods, Brinsley Schwarz, and the Stranglers!.

Well i was watching the who rock honors and i think is kinda true but i think The Who was the first sign of punk!. It also said that the ramones were kinda inspired by them!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
The Ramones!. I consider bands like the New York Dolls "pre-punk" and The Sex Pistols more of an after shock, I guess you could say!. The Ramones sort of took it and completely perfected it at it's peak of popularity, though!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
