Someone or something that does everything solely for more fame and/or more-than-enough money!.

I believe some sell outs to be (hate bringing it up, but) the Jonas Brothers!. They play off their looks and we're all very aware of that!. I haven't heard ONE SINGLE FAN say they only like their music and/or that they don't think any of the brothers are hott!. The JoBros should be writing more mature lyrics, not some crap like "7 Things I hate About You" or whatever that Miley Cyrus song is called!.

Metallica gets a lot of crap for being a "sell out," but I don't believe they are!. They are entitled to change the way their music sounds seeing as how they have been together for 20+ years and that same anger they had back then is obviously not still going to be there!. It will be different problems, and different reasons for them to write what they do and produce the music they currently are!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Some people don't know the difference between commercial success and being a sell out!. To me selling out refers to compromising and changing the band's sound and music style to gain more money, popularity and be more successful!. Obviously some bands in order to achieve success have sold out, but not every band/musician is like that, like Bruce Springsteen or Led Zeppelin, so I disagree when people claim that a band is a sell out just because they're very popular!. Which bands do I think have sold out!? Sugar Ray, AFI, Linkin Park, Blink 182, just to name a few!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

When they stop making music through personal enjoyment and the only motivation is exploiting their fanbase for money by imitating the style that gained them recognition to begin with!.

I can't think of any!. Metallica are often called sell-outs, but they just ran out of talent; they weren't trying to get tons of money (they already have tons AFAIK)!. Same goes for Marilyn Manson: he turned crap, but he didn't sell out!. He didn't need to!.

Nick Cave is pending for a 'sell-out' accusation, but he doesn't deserve one!.!.!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Sell out to me is when a band finally makes it and they become mainstream!. This is hard to hear for most music fans, but all bands on some level or another want to sell out!. They want to reach the fans and if their success is based truly on selling albums while they keep real to who they are!.!.!.then yes, they're selling out!. Selling out used to be a term I applied to lots of bands, but as I've gotten older and wiser, I understand it's a complex thing; that's a lot more about perspective than reality!.

Korn sold out!.!.!.!.but not because they tried to!. Alot of poeple, myself included, were with them from the very early days!. I told my friends about them and they they told people and so on and so forth!. Next thing you know!.!.!.they're everywhere!. Not because they changed their style or cut their hair or started writing jingles for commercials!.!.!.but because people genuinely liked their music!. Can't fault a band for that can you!?

Korn is labeled as sell outs by many in the music world, both fans and critics alike!.!.!.!.but to me they're not!. They're just a band who accomplished what they set out to do and that was make THEIR music and hopefully it would find the fans who liked it!. Turned out there were lots of fans who liked it!Www@Enter-QA@Com

what the others said those bands who change up their sound to appeal to mainstream people which i do not appreciate biggest sell outs in my opinion avenged sevenfold, all time low, atreyu, fall out boy, and paramore is almost there i think that the academy is!.!. and the devil wears prada are considered sell outs but i don't think so at the moment o!.OWww@Enter-QA@Com

None of us like a sell out BUT, i think it HAS to happen every now & again to to open the eyes of a few people to another kind of music!.

Aerosmith sold out along time ago & are responsible for the Big Hair Pop Heavy Metal Bands of the 80'sWww@Enter-QA@Com

i used to think if a band changed their sound to sell more records they "sold out" but i gave up on that!.!.!.

now the only real sell-outs in my opinion are acts like jonas brothers or miley montana!.!.!.because they are created to make money and the music is secondary!.!.!.on good days!.!.!.

i dont worry too much about "selling-out" anymore!.!.!.if i did id probably have to be angry with ac/dc!.!.!.multi-million dollar deals with wal-mart could be considered "selling out" to some

Aerosmith is a sellout, Metallica is often called a sellout, but I don't believe they are!. And The band that recorded the album that you so proudly display is the farthest thing from a sellout!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

an artist or band are classed as sell outs if they change thier style to appeal to the mainstream and make more money!.
its something bob dylan did with highway 61, he went electric!. you could say he sold out!.!.!.!.but was that such a bad thing, i dont think so!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Kanye west, eminem, G-unit (clothing brands, merchandise)!. I also think ure a sell out if ure on the radio!. The radio is annoying and just has the same muic on all the time and it tends to all sound the same!. At least radio rap!. GO UNDERGROUND!!!!!Www@Enter-QA@Com

I think "selling out" is when a band/artist changes their style of music to have a bigger audience, and to find more money, and fame!. I think Pete Wentz was a good musician!. But, he's king of sell outs now!Www@Enter-QA@Com

Change their music to appeal to others

Mainstream, in my opinions, is a sellout genre!. I don't believe Metallica is a sell outWww@Enter-QA@Com

When they change their sound to make more money or to appeal to the mainstream more!.

Example!. Linkin Park's album Minutes To MidnightWww@Enter-QA@Com

I think a sell-out is somebody that tries to be something they aren't just to sell a few more records!.

I think sell-outs are Fall Out Boy and My Chemical Romance!.

I don't think Metallica sold out!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
