Question: How do you feel about MTV pushing and promoting Gay culture on todays youth!?
I know short minded people will say then dont watch it!! I dont have to watch it but alot of kids do watch it , But it seems like mtv is glorifying the gay culture like its the new fad or something!. Alot of the shows are about young gay people shows them making out and on journeys of gay curiosty its not right in my opinon! I teach my kids that a men like women and they see it on mtv and i think it confuses them or in a commerical were to guys are kissing it confuses my youngest son!. I dont let them watch stuff like that but u are not always there to stop them and commericals should not promote it either, Now its starting to end up on nickoldeon channel!.!.!.!.!.!. If a kid is gay he should find out for sure by himself not having tv steer him in that direction!!!!!!Www@Enter-QA@Com

I think its about creating an acceptance for homosexual people, because in today's society there are alot of close minded individuals who fear things like the sexuality of their children!. I don't think being gay is a choice made by people but something they are born as and a part of who they are!. Now I don't really wanna see two dudes making out on tv, (two women is a different story!.!.lol) but I do think that this will promote acceptance in our society because discrimination and racism are one of the world's biggest problem and are at the root of most of todays issues!.!.!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
agree with HNIC!. This is happenng on a lot of channels!. I'm not a homophob, but I agree with you that it confuses kids!. MTV obviously aims for teenagers, but kids who are younger are watching also!. I wouldn't let my kid watch mtv, and i would defintely block some channels out that are similar to mtv!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
Because MTV is garbage for starters! Ever since they kicked Yo MTV Raps off the air! But yeah, I feel you on that!. I don't even like the idea of homosexuality anyway!. That's a good question!. But, by your logic that "If a kid is gay he should find out for sure by himself not having tv steer him in that direction!!!!!!", shouldn't this hold true to the heterosexual side as well!? It would be an uneven match just to silence one side and not the other!.

Well I think that MTV isn't glorifying being gay!. Honestly I feel that they are showing how things really are!. That is how the world is now!. You stopping your son from watching those shows isn't going to solve the problem, he still has to go to school or the store!. Not to be funny or a jerk but you might want to explain that there are people who are gay!. Don't get me wrong, I'm not gay and I personally don't agree with it but children need to know what is going on!. I don't watch MTV because most of the programs on it are overly sexual !.period!. and have been increasingly for the last 20 years!. If you've been watching MTV (and much of TV) a while you can definitely see the changes over time!. Maybe you're just desensitized to the overt sexuality of the heterosexual population and are only just now waking up to this fact of life!. Gay culture has been increasingly in the public forum for ten years now and has been instrumental in breaking down tremendous barriers for understanding!. You won't agree with me, but you should be teaching your children that humans have an inate desire to love and that while most people love the opposite sex best but some people love the same sex best!. You should be teaching them that you will love them if they are gay, straight, blue or purple!.
I've had the misfortune of dating a handful of gay men and I can tell you that it's extremely damaging to the female because, obviously, the man is "just not that into" the woman, is obviously lying to the woman and himself and so nothing about their relationship is authentic!. Nothing!. I'd rather live in a society that accepts everyone as they are so we can all go about the business, individually and as a community, of growing up and learning to love our own individual best!. Teach your children that, not hatred!.
I can also assure you that the only confusion a gay person has is about the anxiety and fear of coming out in a society that still actively discriminates against them!. Most people have a clear understanding of their sexual orientation by, if not before, puberty!. You can no more influence a straight child to be gay (or vise versa) than you can convince my child she doesn't have diabetes!. They promote gay culture because whether people like it or not, this is our reality!. You can say that it promotes homosexuality or promiscuity, but people don't become gay from watching MTV!. I grew up with MTV and it had/has no affect on my sexuality!. I'm straight and I learned that from my body!. If I was gay, I would not go around blaming television for it!. It's just a reality that some men like men and some women like women, don't let your children watch shows like "Next" or whatever else that goes against what you're teaching your children!. As for the commercials, most of them are talking about safe sex and AIDS, and I definately believe that those need to stay on and are good examples of the different lifestyles in the world!.

1st off!.!.!.I don't really think MTV is putting much gay stuff on there shows I mean other than next and other dating shows and of course every OTHER season of the real world (you notice they do it in patterns) I really don't see what your talking about, but consider this: Fact, GAY PEOPLE EXIST EVERYWHERE, your kids are going to be exposed to them no matter where they are in life, and you cannot stop that, anyone can be gay from the hairstylist at the local salon all the way to your sons football coach you never know!.!.!.and you being so over reactive to gay people being shown on t!.v!. is a little bit dumb!.!.!.

For example I know tons of people who hated gay people then watched some real world and were not bothered by it anymore and saw that gays are just like everyone else!.!.
also teenagers are the #1 age group for suicides and within that group do you know what #1 is GAY TEENS, if gay teen don't have anyone to relate to or see anything in the media that says to them: its not that bad, enjoy life, not everyone hates you, do you think that would help that number decrease any!?
