Answers:
Sinatra had his Rat Pack and liked to live it up with booze, gambling and women!. Torme on the other hand was more conservative and didn't go for the wild living!. The two had mutual acquaintances that each had on their own shows, but always kept a distance between each other!. Torme rivaled Sinatra early on which probably turned Frank off!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Although Sinatra was the more popular of the two, I think Torme was considered more creative!. He was a musician and composer, as well as a vocalist!. He was also considered a singer of a specific genre (jazz), while Sinatra was considered the pop artist!. Hopefully, these two artists had respect for each others work!. They were both extraordinary talents!.
Sinatra performed and recorded Torme's The Christmas Song!.
There are videos on youtube of Sinatra performing the song with Bing Crosby, Nat King Cole and solo!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I wish I could remember where I read this, but Mel Torme had a nickname for Francis Albert that I believe is born of respect: "Than whom there is no whomer"!. Each was a star and virtuoso (well, Frank certainly was one in the early days)!. While in his later years Frank could have farted and it would have attracted media attention, in the early 1950's he was a villain in the media for a long time after he left his wife and mother of his children for actress Ava Gardner- so his "sway" over the media wasn't absolute!. Oddly enough, while the two never recorded together, Torme and Sinatra both debuted on screen in 1943's "Higher and Higher"!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

i think everyone considered sinatra to be the better vocalist because he was a 'pop' singer; whereas torme was more of a 'jazz' vocalist (dude could 'scat' just as good as louis armstrong!)!.!.!.but what a lot of people don't people don't realize (and therefore don't take in account) is that mel was also a talented songwriter ('the christmas song', anyone!?)!.!.!.

as far as their relationship!.!.!.i've never read or heard of either men dissin' or praisin' the other; so i assume thay were indifferent to each other!.!.!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Two very different styles!. Sinatra always called himself a "Bar singer" in a crooner style while Torme (Known as "The Velvet Fog" ) was more into ballads with his distinctly smoother voice!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
