Answers:
I've found he peaks at different timeframes!.

As another answerer stated, EC is Always Brilliant,
or potentially so!. Even Jeff Beck agrees that Eric
has remained THE best since Hendrix left us!.

Personally, I favor his Just One Night double album
from 1980, in its approach and fluidity!.

For the greatest remake of a song he adopted
from JJ Cale, get a listen to EC's 1988 version
of, "After Midnight"!. It sounds nothing like the
folksy, radio-overplayed rendition!.

And, for all schools, I think everyone should hear
at least once in their lifetime his 2005 masterpiece,
"Sessions For Robert J!." Dvd/Cd!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I love all of his eras of music even the ones with John Mayall and Delaney & Bonnie which you left out!.
His solo career is my favorite though, especially his first six albums plus all the albums since Behind the Sun in 1985!.
The only solo albums I didn't care for too much were Another Ticket and Money and Cigarettes!.

If you're a Clapton fan you should read his Autobiography that came out last year!. It is an excellent book and once you start reading it you can't put it down!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I like all of Clapton's eras including John Mayall's Bluesbreakers, Delaney & Bonnie, Cream, Blind Faith, Derek!.!. and solo (up to about 1989)!. I can see the thumbs down coming for this but Clapton really lost me when he went adult comtemporary (Pilgrim, etc), the lone exceptions being From The Cradle and Ridin With The King (w/BB King)Www@Enter-QA@Com

My opinion is his solo career!. I've been a fan forever!. Seen him 5 times!. My favorite show was in 2001!. The one more car one more rider tour!. Incredible band!. Check it out on DVD if you want!. But he has always been great!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
