Question: Do you think you should still give a rapper a chance even if their first album wasn't so good or good at ALL!?
For example!.!.if Nas' first album was Nastradamus or Jay-Z's first album was Kingdom Come
would you still give him a chance even if the production and lyrics of his debut album was horrible!?

a WHAT IF q!.!.if Soulja Boy came out with a good album!? no more stuff like Crank dat, Booty meat!.!.etc-- if he went into Conscious Hip hop, would you give him a listen!?

also, can you name an artist that their debut album was horrible !.!. but they got better later on!?Www@Enter-QA@Com

Answers:
It depends on WHY it wasn't good!. I have no intention of giving Soulja Boy any chances at all because he's not a particularly talented individual!. He's a gimmick and I have no use for that!.

Nas and Jay-Z on the other hand, showcase lyrical talent!. So while I wouldn't necessarily be on the lookout for their second CD if their first CD hadn't been great, I wouldn't completely write them off either!.

The Fugees are a good example of this!. Blunted on Reality was a pretty mediocre album but at least we caught glimpses of how good they *could* be!. And they backed up that promise of potential with The Score!.

Other people who fall into that camp:

2Pac
Common
Eminem
Pigeon John

Good question, lil sis!.

EDITvvv

"Biggie Smalls!.!.!.!.he didn't have a good flow but *now* he's better"

(Uh!.!.!.how exactly!?)Www@Enter-QA@Com

Taking note that hindsight is 20/20, alot of rappers get progressively better!. If you look at some of the top guys in the game right now, and compare their first album to there most recent album!.!.!. the recent one is much better!.

For example:

Lil Wayne - The Block Is Hot vs Carter III
Jim Jones - On My Way To Church vs Hustlers P!.O!.M!.E
Shawty Lo - D4L (laffy taffy) vs Units in the cityWww@Enter-QA@Com

That will be weird since the 1st album for most artist is their best than they start to decline and no i will not listen to soulja boy even if his next album sounds like illmatic, reasonable doubt and all eyez on me together!. He still made a song called ya trick ya lolWww@Enter-QA@Com

I know, like Shaq's first album was horrible, but he has been fire since!. Right!?

The preeminent feature of hip hop is that there is no past, there is no future: so if it sounds dope, bump it!.

If Soulja Boy teamed up with like 9th Wonder!.!.!.!.I'd listen for sure!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

hell yeah

eminems old cd's weren't so good if u know which ones i mean not the dre produced ones

i have others here that should be given a chanceWww@Enter-QA@Com

Only if they changed record labels!. The only artists I can think of who made a subpar debut and release a very good album later was Juvenile and Sheek Louch!. But both of them made good songs while they were in a group (Hot Boyz and LOX)Www@Enter-QA@Com

I want to say yes, but the reality is, in music, first impressions mean a lot!. BTW, Soulja Boy is the worst music artist out there right now!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

He already got a song called "She Got A Donk" if you can take that and turn it into a classic mental stimulation album then you got my vote but I doubt it!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

def!. every artist needs to be givin another chance past the 1st album because a lot of them dont get to do a lot of decision making on the first one!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

If Soulja Boy where to drop Conscious music on his next album I would send Angel $100 and stop sending Interscope Records hate mailWww@Enter-QA@Com

If an artist comes out with at least ONE GOOD SONG, then I will look for other songs that are good from that same artist!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

2Pacalypse Now wasn't that great!.!.!.other than a handful of songs so Yeah I'd give them a chance

I would give Soulja Boy a listen!.!.!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

If D4L improved their lyrics and productionWww@Enter-QA@Com

Still waiting for someone to prove me wrong!.!.!.!.

But usually they have to do something amazing to turn me around!.!.!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

YEA I WOULD!.!.GOTTA GIVE EM A CHANCEWww@Enter-QA@Com

Yeah Every Emcee deserves a Chance!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

If Soulja Boy became conscious then I would listen to him in a heart beat, just to see if he could pull it off!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

yes cause they're just breakin out!. it sometimes takes failure to succeed later on!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

p and nastradamus kiddddddddddddWww@Enter-QA@Com

yeah id give soulja boy a listen!.!.!.but he'll never in 10 million years do thatWww@Enter-QA@Com

yea probly!.!.because through just being in the game!.!.they get to know other artist!.!.wich they can work withWww@Enter-QA@Com

I think that most new artist are just trying to come out with something new and fresh!. It is hard to try to come out with your own style of rap or whatever it is your trying to do because a lot of people are very picky on the music they listen to!. Everybody has some songs that somebody did that they just hated because it was so dumb nobody understood it!.

But I think once they get over the first hump of bad they fall into whats good!. I for one don't like hard rap I like a rapper to have a good message and have the flow of r&b but thats just me!.

Like Fat Joe or whatever the hell his name is I can't stand his music but he did that song with J!. Holiday and I love that!.

And Kanye West!. Oh LORD don't get me started I have hated everything he has ever done except the one with Jamie Foxx!. Gold Digga!.

So you see everything has its ups and downs!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Jay-Z = no i don't like him
Nas= is alright but too dull, i'd still give him a slight chance
Soulja Boy= yes, his songs are gay but they have a lot of bass in them!.!.!.If he could keep the low loud bass, and change his annoying repetitive nonsense lyrics!.!.!.!. then yes

I know plenty of artists that weren't so good from the beginning but got better

I didn't like project pat at first with chickenheads by when his newer songs came out he grew on me and took over lol!.

Nappy Roots weren't that good from the beginning but a few songs on watermelon chicken and gritz made me fall in love

Tupac wasn't very good from the beginning!.!.!.but now he's a legend

Biggie Smalls!.!.!.!.he didn't have a good flow but now he's better

there's more I got a brain fartWww@Enter-QA@Com

jay-z got good music and rythem i like his song hey papi and big pimpin and jigga some others and his wife beyonce is a good artist along with destinys child
