Question: How do they make those sounds!?
in the songs "livin on a prayer" by bon jovi and "kickstart my heart" by motley crue, the guitarists make this very distorted, wah-wah sound using their microphones by making a wah sound into the mic!. How do they do this!?Www@Enter-QA@Com

it's called a TalkBox, or Vocoder!. they person uses the shape of their mouth around the tube to get that sound, it's a very fun effect to use and you can make some really cool sounds with it!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
It's called "Talk Box," "Talking Box" or some other variation thereof, and it's an effect whereby your guitar sound is output through a tube up the mic stand so you articulate the resonance with your mouth, producing vowels!. Such re-articulated sound is then sent to the amplifier!. It sounds cool, but you have to make all those silly faces LOL
The most prominent examples of talk box use are in fact on many songs on Peter Frampton's "Frampton Comes Alive" album and Joe Walsh's "Rocky Mountain Way!."

it's done by the engineers in the back ground!.it just looks like there doing it!.
when on a guitar it's done by a pulse button or vibrato attachment!.

Matt bruck the guitar tech for Ed Van Halen did a great video on this but i cant find it!. this is not the best vid of one but at least the kid walks you thru the basics!.!.!.!.using his homemade Talk Box !.!.!.which is not that hard to make anyhow here you go

i dont know what its called but there is this clear tube that is close to the mic!. i think it uses like water or some kinda gas to make the noise!. sorry i cant explain more!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
