Trent Reznor is strongly against the war in Iraq and the Bush administration!. "The Hand That Feeds" is likely a cry against all oppressive regimes and conformity, but it focuses on the US conservative right!. Reznor uses Christian imagery to evoke an image of the "moral majority" and "Christian coalition" so often associated with the republican cause and the Bush administration!. Further evidence of the political (rather than religious) slant of the song comes from the NIN website, where after pulling out of an MTV performance of the song, Reznor issued the following statement: "We were set to perform 'The Hand That Feeds' with an unmolested, straightforward image of George W!. Bush as the backdrop!. Apparently, the image of our president is as offensive to MTV as it is to me!. See you on tour this fall when we return to play in America!." You can find more evidence of Reznor's anger at the Bush administration throughout his new CD!. The hit song "Capitol G", for instance, is another song that seems to target Bush, but could possibly be anti-God as well!. I think it is likely that Trent Reznor sees many conservative forms of Christianity as oppressive and conformist (based on other lyrics and statements), but I think it is unlikely that he wrote "The Hand That Feeds" as a religious statement!.

I don't think it's either!.
I think it's anti-government/anti-GW Bush!.!.!.In 2006 NIN was supposed to perform this song at the MTV music awards but the producers at MTV cancelled NIN at the last minute because Trent Resnor refused to change the performance!.!.!.he apparently planned on having unflattering/embarassing pictures of George W!. Bush flash on a big TV behind him while he performed (I also heard that there was something about burning an american flag but I don't know if that part is true!.)Www@Enter-QA@Com
