Is the rosin for an upright bass the same as rosin for a violin?!
Question: Is the rosin for an upright bass the same as rosin for a violin!?
I just got an upright bass and I THINK that the bow need rosin!. The only rosin I have currently is my violin rosin!. Would it be possible to use the violin rosin on my bass bow without ruining it!?Www@Enter-QA@Com
Answers:
Rosin is mainly the same, but the degree of stickiness is different for violin than it is for bass!.
Because violin strings are thinner, the rosin for violin bows are not ideal to use on a bass bow!.
In emergency situations, sure, it's fine to use rosin made for another instrument!. However, it's best to get a rosin made for the bass!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

From what I've seen, bass rosin is an entirely different thing and I'd get the rosin specifically designed for bass!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
