If your slide are really dirty, they will probably need to be buffed by a specialist!. It's actually not a bad idea to go to a repair shop once a while to have an acid bath given to your horn, buff all the slides, valves and get the casing cleaned!. Here is what i do to makes my slide move freely :

main tuning slide and second valve slide : I use a product called tuning slide grease!. It a kind of very thick grease that will make your slide move freely, but with some resistance, to prevent it from moving when you play an get out of tune!.

First and third valve slide : I put some cork grease (the one used for cork on sax neck, and between the parts of a clarinet, looks like lipstick)!. I make sure that there is grease everywhere on the slide!. It will also "seal" your slide!. After that, I put a couple of drop of valve oil on the slide!. While pressing the valves, just move them to allow the oil to penetrate everywhere!. If it's stil not working, go to see a specialist to get your slide buffed and straightened!.

One other thing i do is to put some oil by the mouthpiece receiver, and i blow hard into the horn!. That will coat the inside of your horn, and protect the metal (the inner slide as well)!.

For best result and to prevent minerals builds up, use synthetic oil, like the T2 or Hetman!. It's a little bit more expensive on purchase, but you will save on repair!. For around 8$ a bottle, You're going to avoid a lot of problem!. Since synthetic oil won't build up, that's mean that it's gonna take a long time before you'll need to get youre slides buffed again!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

The two main reasons your slides won't move:
1!. they're dirty
2!. they need to be oiled

Have you given your trumpet a bath recently!?

If you're not comfortable with bathing your trumpet, you can clean the slides separately!. Remove each slide (one at a time, so you don't have to worry about putting them back in the wrong place), wipe it clean with a paper towel, and wipe out the inside of the slide casing as well!. Once you have cleaned the slide and the casing, put a drop or two of valve oil on the slide, put it in place, and work the oil up and down the length of the slide by pushing the slide in and out of the casing (without pulling the slide all the way out)!.

I hope this is clear!Www@Enter-QA@Com

I believe you have to grease your slides!. I'm sure you can find slide grease at your local music store or online if necessary!.

I also own a B flat trumpet and I find valve oil to be effective!. You just remove the caps of the valves, insert the oil, and work the valve up and down!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

you should use sliding greaseWww@Enter-QA@Com
