okay!. everyone in my family tells me that i have "a really good singing voice" way better than my sister (easy to believe)!. but every time the two of us sing on our karaoke machine, the highest i get is like an 81 out of 100!. and she gets way higher than me!. can anyone explain to me why she is getting higher scores than me if i so called have "a really good singing voice"

The score of a karaoke machine is only used for entertainment!. I could get over 80 although I was absolutely out of tune :-) I'm not sure, how many machine is able to judge your pitch because this requires a realtime analysis of frequencies!. Technically, it's easy to analyze volume and rhythm!.
You can do some experiments to challenge your machine!. You simply sing la la la!.!.!. and keep this in rhythm!. Try to vary your tune and see what your machine say!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

The scores on a karaoke machine score based on notes, pitch, rhythm and tempo!. All you have to do to score high is keep on those!. It does not score on personality in your sound!. You can sound better, have more passion in your voice and perform better than most, and still get beat because those machines just cannot pick up anything different!.
What this means is that if you practice to get the notes, pitch and rhythm right, but still keep your performance element in and show your personality, then you might have a chance!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
