There's a lot of great bands that aren't maistream!. I really love Phantom Planet (similar to the strokes but in a lot of ways better) and few have heard of them, but they have a lot of fans!. Theres also

my favorite band ever is called The Hush Sound!. They're a kind of alt/indie/rock group, but their music varies quite a bit so it's hard to describe!. Very mellow!
I recommend just about any of their music!
a newer artist I've fallen in love with is Charlotte Sometimes!. She sounds somewhat like Fiona Apple or Regina Spektor, to give you an idea!. Her main single now is 'How I Could Just Kill a Man,' but a few of my favorites (that i recommend a lot) is 'Sweet Valium High' or 'Ex-Girlfriend Syndrome'Www@Enter-QA@Com

You need to narrrow down that question!. It all depends on the genre of music!. Cuz id say the best bands that few have heard of would be White Chapel, Suicide Silence, See You Next Tuesday, and As Ablood Runs Black!. Slightly Stoopid - Reggae-rock!. I don't know if you listen to Sublime but Sublime's lead singer signed Slightly Stoopid to his label Skunk Records before he died!.
