Why is modern day music built around beats 2 and 4?!

Question: Why is modern day music built around beats 2 and 4!?
Why not have the beat on 1 and 3!? It wouldn't sound right to us now but that's just because we're used to the regular structure!. What are the origins of this and why is it so immensley popular!?Www@Enter-QA@Com

Honestly, I don't know!. You should really ask a music history professor!.

I do know that a long time ago (like Classical era), western music did emphasis beats 1 and 3, but music has evolved so that while music theorists still consider beat 1 and 3 to be the strongest beats, popular music tends to accent beats 2 and 4 (the "backbeat")!.

My best guess is that this was developed in order to provide more syncopation in styles of music that were otherwise quite simple!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Corruption chooses the music!. Wasn't always like that!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
