Most bands become famous locally first!. Play as many places as you can and get as much exposure as possible!. Make a webpage, and pass out flyers for your events!. To start a band find some friends that play instruments and practice in your garage, until you are good enough to play in front of a crowd!.

You probably start off promoting yourself to small labels after recording a demo and see if one will pick you up, but be persistent!. If that works, then you perform and get a local following and try and gain the attention of a large label and get signed!. Then try and play some shows!.
Talent Shows/gong shows, parties, even just have a show in your backyard!.
Stuff like The Battle of the Bands can reallly help!.
Once you are more well known, and are actually able to charge for shows, you should try to find someplace like Peabodys or HoB to let you open!.

Well, duh!.!.!. form a band forst; then make sure you're making damn good songs and have a catchy image to sell them!. And then play everywhere a LOT, all the time!. If the songs are really good, that could do the trick!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
