Question: In your opinion, what are the five most essential songs a piano player should know!?
Answers:
The most important to know is "Happy Birthday"

!.!.!. party, kids, piano, everyone knows you play !.!.!. You will be asked!. Memorize it inside out!.

Find some others YOU like, and not the Fur Elise, Moonlight, Minuet in G, Sonatina, or any other of the required to learn pieces out there !.!.!. they are not essential to know; and often times best forgotten!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Songs!? SONGS ARE SUNG!. Well, I'll assume you mean pieces!.
1!. The Goldberg Variations (Bach)!. It is the most famous piano piece ever composed and by many's opinion the greatest (Glenn Gould playing them was the greatest classical album ever and for good reason; and by famous I mean the most recognized; I understand that nowawadays the Moonlight Sonata and Fur Eilse are more popular among my own generation)
2!. Beethoven's 29th Piano Sonata Hamerklavier!. This is Beethoven's hardest Sonata and most certainly his best!.
3!. Chopin!. I would love to recomend a single piece but if you ask five different professors what Chopin's most important piece is, you'll get five different responses!. So you should just be faimilar with as much Chopin as you can!.
4!.Brahm's Second Piano Concerto; I don't particularly love this piece but it's come to be the embodiment of very difficult Piano music even though it is by no means the most difficult Piano piece!.
5!. I wanted to put a 20th century piece (that wasn't Rachmaninoff) here because I wanted a piece that represented the 20th century!. I can't think of one, so I'll put a couple of great Piano pieces of the twenith century!.
Berg's Piano Sonata!. Hard to listen to!.!.!. great non the less
Prokofiev's Seventh Piano Sonata; this piece is fun
Bartok's Piano Sonata
And that about covers it!. Still there are hundreds more you should know!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
