I've taught a few kids to play this solo, it's not that hard, you can do it!

Take it in chunks!. You can definitely break the whole solo up into "statements" or phrases which are short!. You can hear that when you listen to it!.

I bought a book which transcribed this and a number of other Page solos and the extra detail they included in those transcriptions was very helpful and revealed a few things I might not have found myself!. Are you sure that you're working from good transcriptions!?

I would first work on that opening phrase!. It's played right there, in one position, at the fifth fret!. Get that really strong!. Then move on to the next phrase, which begins with the note, "A", on the B-string at the tenth fret!.

Keep working, one bite at a time and then keep stringing together the chunks!. It's a terrific guitar solo, it's practically like a melody of its own!. I guess that's why people are still wanting to learn it today, thirty-some years after it's release!. But, as a study in phrasing and playing nice, lyrical lead guitar lines, this is a great solo to learn!.

One tool I use, which I can't recommend enough, is a small software program for the Macintosh called "The Amazing Slow Downer"!. I think it's available for the PC too!. This program will allow you to take a song, or even a small section of a song and slow it down, repeat it over and over, so that you can play along with a difficult passage and really drill it over and over until you get it right!. I can't recommend this "Amazing Slow Downer" enough!. I think it was around fifty bucks and it has really saved my skin! ronimusic!.com is where you can get it!. It also will allow you to change the pitch too - like, if you're playing along with Hendrix and don't want to tune your guitar down to Eb, you can adjust the recording to be in tune with you!. That also is extremely helpful!. Not all recordings are done with instruments tuned to the same "A" as our A-440!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

well it's probably your timing!. just learn the notes and figure out the timing later!. I memorized One (Metallica) this way!. If it's too complicated, break it down and learn a few measures a day until you got the whole thing down!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

the solo is a A minor pentatonic !.!. that scale is at www!.allguitar-chords!.com and click scales!.!.!. you will see when you learn that scale that you will be able to play the songs soloWww@Enter-QA@Com

First thing you need is a 70s Les Paul, then a Marshall stack, and then a bottle of Jack Daniels!. Now light the guitar tabs on fire and smoke them and then crank it up and play!!!Www@Enter-QA@Com

Please try your capo bar ( fret lobster) (cheater bar)? on fret 2 or 3~ it's close, but still not what I had hoped for when I learned the solo ~Www@Enter-QA@Com

my dads cousin could play that song on electric guitar!. he was really goodWww@Enter-QA@Com
