What happened to real soul music?!
Question: What happened to real soul music!?
The BET awards always focus on rappers slash R&B!. Most of the awards go to rappers a few real singers!. Back in the days music was beautiful!. We had artists like Luther Vandross, The Whispers, The Isley brothers, Smokey Robinson etc!. etc!. Shouldn't we give more credit to the artists that can really sing !?Www@Enter-QA@Com

I am so happy someone with an ear for music asked this question!!!! I remember listening to some soul music, and being rather insulted at the title "Neo-soul" given to artists like Jill Scott, Maxwell, India Arie, etc!. Soul music is just what it is - music with soul!. Most rap (not all, as long as the Roots continue to do their thing) has become so bent along the thug/gangster crap that it's just not worth listening to!. As a once avid rap fan, I can't stand listening to most of it nowadays, and listen to talk radio!. I mean anytime lil' wayne outsells somebody with the talent of KRS-one, Chuck D, or the Roots, then it just drives home the point that most people are so conditioned to hearing bad music that they can't tell good music when it hits them!.
I myself need to stock my shelves with more Jill Scott, Maxwell (did anyone see that performance on the BET awards!?!?!?) Lauryn Hill, and every performer with a voice and talent!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Record producers are in such a hurry to put out records that, in some cases, as long as you look good and can lip-sync on cue, they could care less if you can sing for real!. Back in the day you had to have that something to make you stand out!. now or days they fix your voice up in the studio with the computers!. Computers are good for somethings, but not everything!. NOTICE- those artists or groups never go on tour!. Why!? they cannot sing a note to save their lives!. umm, umm, umm
Now some of the new people that can SANG are Alicia Keys, Jahiem, Jill Scott, Erykah Badu, The Roots, Raheem De Vaughn and Keisha Cole!. There are some others, but at this time, I like the style of the mentioned people!. They are either great singers or can put down some serious music!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Today, the music industry is all about looks and pumping out a gimmick!.!.!.it has nothing to do with talent!. They market this stuff to kids, who buy it because the media tells them it's "cool", and that's how these horrendous artists make money and win awards!. That's why I'm all about neo-soul and fairly obscure underground artists!. Maxwell, Joe, Prince, Erykah, Jill Scott!.!.!.these are the true artists of today and deserve to be recognized far more for their talent!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
