What's a metalhead?!
Question: What's a metalhead!?
I always thought it was someone who listened to heavy metal!. But now it seems that in order to truly be a "metalhead" you have to dress a certain way, act a certain way, etc!. My husband considers himself a metalhead because he likes 80's hair bands; but he has short hair, dresses conservatively, wears glasses, works in an office job, and drives a Subaru!. So is he considered a metalhead!?Www@Enter-QA@Com

Yeah I guess your husband is a metalhead!. You don't have to dress or act a certain way to be considered a "metalhead"!.!.!.!.as long as you listene to metal music, then you are a metalhead!.

A metalhead is someone who favors metal over other genres, listens to it the most, but they are allowed to listen to other bands that are NOT considered metal!. A Metalhead is simply someone who listens to a lot of Heavy Metal music!. You do not have to dress or act a certain way to be a metalhead, but many hardcore metalheads conform to a certain style of dress, just like a lot of punkers dress the same, emo kids dress the same, ska kids dress the same, etc!. It's part of our nature to want to belong to a group!.
HOWEVER, your husband's affinity for 80's Hair Metal doesn't qualify him as a metal fan in my book!. That stuff is pop metal!. I wouldn't consider some kid who listens to Nu Metal or Metalcore to be a metalhead either!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

A Metalhead like you said, is a person who listens mostly to Metal Music ( Heavy Metal, Dark Metal, Trash Metal ) besides that you really have to consider the way they dress!. This could be tight jeans, LOTS of black shirts and long hair!.
I listen to Metal music but I don't consider myself a metalhead because I also listen to alternative music in general some electronica and I dress pretty average!.

A metalhead is someone who's obsessed with metal music!. It doesn't matter how you dress, etc!. I listen to genres like Thrash Metal, Classic Metal, Power Metal, NWOBHM, etc!. By the way, I like hair metal, but I never considered it a metal genre, more rock!. I consider myself a metalhead, even though I lik bright colors and my hair isn't that long (my dad won't let me grow it out a whole lot)!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
During the 80's you could identify a true male metalhead by the following criteria!.
1)Long hair, often worn mullet style
2)Dangling earrings, silver or chrome, from left ear!.
3)Leather motorcycle jacket!.
4)Sleaveless denim jacket worn over motorcycle jacket like a vest with favorite band patch on back (Usually Guns N Roses)
5)Old, torn, faded, or just abused jeans
6)Metal Band buttons (AC/DC, Metallica, Pantera, Anthrax)
7)Serious air guitar skills!.
8)Black t-shirts with band logos!.!.!.see buttons above
9)Patchy facial hair!.
10)Neck pain from head banging!.
Of course, the days of the raging 80's metalhead is over, most of us cut our hair and got jobs, mortgages, traded our air guitars for Guitar Hero!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

A Metalhead is a person who mainly prefers metal music (of any kind, Black Metal, Death Metal, Thrash Metal etc!.) over other genres of music!. I'm not sure what other people are called who indulge themselves in pop, jazz, or rap!. Popheads, Jazzheads, Rapheads lol!.
Anyways, I would consider myself a metalhead because that's my main preference as far as music goes, but do enjoy the occasional jazz or classical instrumental!. But what is nice is that those two genres are sometimes incorporated into certain types of metal music so I can stick with my main musical preference and at the same time, listen to the other genres I like!.
I probably don't dress like the "stereotypical" metalhead, but I don't feel that that is really important or neccessary!. It's all about the music and that's what I'm concerned about!. The only things as far as clothing goes that identify me as a metalhead are Metallica, Trivium, Immortal, and Dark Tranquillity T-shirts!.
I also wear all black nearly all the time, but the clothes but wouldn't exactly be considered "metal" if you know what I mean!.
80s hair bands can be classified as the pioneering artists of the genre but not neccessarily be apart of the genre themselves!. Most of them are though, so if he mainly enjoys 80s hair "metal" bands, but occasionally listens to other genres, he could still be classified as a metalhead!.

A metalhead is one who loves metal, and usually strictly but does not limit to, metal!. It is your preference to dress "metal" I personally wear all black, the metal band t-shirts, wristbands, trip pants, in winter a trench coat, but that alone doesn't make me a metal head!. You've heard the old saying, don't judge a book by its cover!. Yes!? Well, some people like for others to assume that they are metal and they really are not, they just like the style of clothing and personally label themselves as a metalhead!. Walk up to that person and tell them to name you a good list of metal bands!.!.!.if they are poping off with bands like Judas Priest, Linkin Park, Breaking Benjamin, Blue October, My Chemical Romance etc!. then they are not, if they stutter over who is what band, then no they are not!. They are what we call posers!. Posers are people who act like someone they are not, and I personally do not like them, because they are trying way too hard!. NOW, I love Linkin Park, and many other alternative, hard core, punk, and rock bands, don't get me wrong, but if this is ALL you listen to, then don't label yourself as the metalhead, you'd be maybe punk or another stereotype, I can't assume what you would be until I got to know you and you told me yourself what you like!. I do like listening to softer bands, depends on the mood!.

He or she will listen to not only the words of the song, but listens to the beat of the bass drum, the rhythm of the guitar, the sounds of a keyboard, a piano if they happen to have one, some do, the tapping of cymbals, the thrumping of the drum set, the deep sound of the bass guitar, and yes the words of the music are important, but don't focus on one, focus on all and feel the music, become the music, live with the music, breath the music become the music!. This is what makes the metalhead, listening to his favorite metal band, and ignoring all around him or her, and sinking into a completely new world of music!. I personally love how Children of Bodom and Bured Between the Dead and Me sound, they are so musical, and it's like an orchestra almost with the amount of talent that they have in the band!. The style comes naturally, but look at All That Remains, they are pretty casual dressers, Demon Hunter are pretty casual dressers!. But it's the music that brings them out, yes many metalheads do dress metal, but many do not!. Your husband sounds like a metalhead to me, because he loves his bands and does not try to hard to dress it, but just moves with it!.
