Question: Why does my voice sound different!?
A lot of people tell me that I have an amazingly beautiful voice, I'm in the top choir at school, and I've gone to a state competition for a solo or two!. It's taken me a long time to build up enough confidence to build myself up to sing in front of people and for contests and anything like that!. I've actually gotten to where I like the sound of my voice, but just recently, I tried the myspace karaokee thingy and!.!.!.wow!.!.!.my voice sounds horrible!!! I mean, it's not that it's a bad day or anything, but I was listening to the recording and I hate it! I don't see how ANYONE could like it! Please tell me this isn't how I really sound! Have I just been embarrassing myself!?Www@Enter-QA@Com

is a weird effect but when you sing most of what YOU actually hear is vibrations in your skull which makes your voice sound different to you so its always a shock to the system to hear your own voice recorded, for example i always thought i had a deep gravely voice i was terrified when i found out ive got a squeaky one, but rest assured you probably have a wonderfull voice your just not used to hearing it through another persons ears,

Not likely!. Digitally recording your voice doesn't give a very accurate representation!. The high notes, especially, sound terrible on a digital device (unless it's more sophisticated!.) Try using a tape recorder!. It's more accurate!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
yep it alway does that i have a better voice than both my parents and they say they like it but i hate the sound of my voice too

karkokee machines, telephones, usually distort your actual voice and make it sound different, your voice is the same and perfect :)Www@Enter-QA@Com
As you mature your voice becomes more mature and unique!. Im a 14 year old guy and now I sound like Jason Aldean almost!. Its aging, this change should make you a even better singer unless you were born without talent!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Yes, this is how you really sound!. BUT remember, we are always our own worse critic!.I don't know too many people who jump for joy when they hear themselves on recording, even the great ones!.
also consider what you are singing!. Maybe it isn't a good fit for your voice!. Just because you can sing doesn't mean you can sing everything!. This is a misconception about singing!. Being a good singer also involves knowing what pieces sound best in your voice!. Not one singer is so great that they will sound great singing anything!. Good singers know what fits their voices and what doesn't!. That's why most singers don't veer too far from the formula that fits them best!. If not, the untrained ear would just say "They can't sing" instead of "Its just the wrong song!."
