What does this song by Mayday Parade mean?!

Well, I think "Three Cheers for Five Years" mean that a couple has been together for Five Years and it's their anniversary!. They might have had some minor problems before their anniversary, but on that day the girlfriend finally tells the boy that she's cheating on him!. She left him heart broken!. She was everything to him and he loved her with all his might!. They break up and he starts to think about what he had in mind for them two and what he had hoped would happen!. He misses her a lot!. The guy knows that nothing will ever be the same for him or her again, but deep inside he still loves the girl despite what she did!. Probably he feels like he knows nothing about her anymore and that the connection/special bond between them has faded!. There's no more spark!. He still loves her, but knows there's no chance!. He wants to be with her, but he can't!. He just can't forgive her for what she had done and knows there's not gonna be a future between them anymore!. No matter how hard they try!.
