Best thing to do when starting out is to go to a Music Store (Guitar Center, Sam Ash, etc!.) where you can actually hold one and put your hand around the neck!. If you get a Guitar that is hard to play (Strings too far off the fret board), you will not only not be able to play, but will probably lose interest in the whole thing!.
Good luck!Www@Enter-QA@Com

Decide how serious you are!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!. then expect to spend 2 - 300 dollars an a NEW one taking exceptional care of it!. I f it does not work out you may be able to return it or resell it for what you got it for!. seek out the music store in town where all the working musicians go !.!.!.not K mart! Get a player or teacher to help you pick one out!.!.!. model types like !. Ibenez has a good line of entry level guitars you will be happy with!.!.!.I have one that is my beach guitar I love it!. cost me 250 with case!.!.!. also look for Yamaha, Ovation even Gibson, Crafter, Goya, Fender,or prehaps a pawn shop might have some good stuff be careful about used guitars they may have some quirks and problems you will notice long after you start to get more accomplished!. The stings should be light gauge or nylon yes buy an acoustic first!.!.!.!.!.!. electrics will frustrate you and need an amplifier!. Lugging it around is a drag too!.!.!.!. so start simple, get a pitch pipe learn how to keep it in tune ,get a chord book and a published song book that comes with a cd in the area of music you want to learn!. I dont know what your looking for but there are hundreds out there!. good playing and good luck !.!.!.!.!.!.best thing I ever did for my life was to learn how to play!Www@Enter-QA@Com

A low-end electric guitar manufactured by Fender, plus a cheap bulky amp and cheesy strap, is what many, many beginners learn on!. If they stick with it and move up to better guitars, or give up entirely, they tend to sell these instruments, often in the local paper or on CraigsList!. I think new the package is about $150 these days, so look to pay no more than half that and possibly a whole lot less for a used one!. Ask for a demo to be sure the amp has not failed!.

Since Fender has a reputation to protect, their inexpensive beginner line is marketed as Squier!. Fender makes it, but not up to its usual standards for fine instruments!. For a beginner, though, the Squier is a perfectly respectable guitar!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

When my brother got his first guitar, he was told that he should start off with an acoustic!. Simple reason is that the acoustic is actually harder to play than an electric guitar, so if I were you, I would buy a decent acoustic guitar!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Get a used one first then a better one once you learn how to play!. Maybe try eBay or a pawn shop!. Some good brands are fender and gibson!. My first guitar was a cheap Framus :)
Hope this helps :)
