How come when I learned "This Land is Your Land", I didn't get the!

Question: How come when I learned "This Land is Your Land", I didn't get the whole song!?
When I was in elementary school, we learned the song "This Land is Your Land" in chorus class!. I remember singing "From the redwood forest, to the gulf stream waters, this land was made for you and me" and everyone smiling!.

But Woody Guthrie didn't mean for it to be all perfect!. What about the last stanza:

"In the squares of the city - In the shadow of the steeple
Near the relief office - I see my people
And some are grumblin' and some are wonderin'
If this land's still made for you and me!."

That's obviously nto vey popular, but it's arguably the most important of the song!. Why was that witheld!?Www@Enter-QA@Com

Answers:
I don't know about you, but I remember elementary school very well!. We also sang this song!. There are two logical reasons that I can think of that would be a reason why we didn't sing this part!.

1) At that age, we wouldn't have really understood what that all meant!.
2) I don't really want to think about some little kid finding reasons to hate where they live!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

even though the last stanza is the most important, the first verse of "this land is your land" is most memorable because you hear it many times on the radio and tv!.!. you never hear the full song because i guess people dont want to listen to that song for that long!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

When we were taught this in school, they wanted to promote a love for our country to all the children at an early age!. In order to do this, the verse you have listed had to be left out!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
