What Rock/heavy metal albums should a hiphop fan listen to as an introduction to!

Question: What Rock/heavy metal albums should a hiphop fan listen to as an introduction to heavy metal!?
I have been interested in diversifying my musical tastes!. I have been listening to Hiphop all of my life, as well as some soul and R&B!. I was wondering what albums should i start with in the Rock/heavy metal genre!. I have added Pink Floyd's - The Wall album, Led Zeppelin I & II, as well as metallica!. There are some groups that I already liked like the Doors and Rolling Stones!. I love Jimi hendrix as well!. Anyways, I know that if a rock & roll fan first started listening to hiphop, they wouldn't know where to start, and chances are they would have to retune the way they hear the music!. So i'm looking for help!. Thank you!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Answers:
Start with Classic Rock - you've already done well there with Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, The Doors, Rolling Stones etc!. Basically, I think you can't go wrong with any Led Zeppelin album - get them all!. Other good Classic Rock bands which are slightly closer to metal are Deep Purple, Motorhead and Black Sabbath, which I highly recommend listening to first before any metal!. Start metal with those three then go to Judas Priest, Iron Maiden and Power/Progressive metal!. Then Megadeth, Pantera and Slayer, also try Dream Theater and Tool!. Then melodic death metal and death metal/black metal etc!. That's sort of how I did it!. Basically, start with the softer stuff and work your way up!.

You wanted albums so this is what I think (in this order):
Led Zeppelin - all albums
Black Sabbath - Paranoid, Black Sabbath, Master or Reality (anything with Ozzy)
Deep Purple - (best of)
Motorhead - Ace of Spades
Judas Priest - (anything really)
Iron Maiden - Powerslave, Number of the Beast
Dream Theater - Train of Thought, Images and Words, 6 Degrees of Inner Turbulence
Megadeth - Rust in Peace and Peace Sells
Slayer - Reign in Blood
Pantera - Cowboys from Hell and Far Beyond Driven
Tool - Undertow, 10000 Days, Lateralus

After all that, I think you could handle any metal!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

If you want to get into METAL metal through your hip-hop roots, look no further than Anthrax, most specifically in their collaborations with Public Enemy!. It's a melding of speed metal and rap, and works pretty well!.
The song from them I'd say gives the best representation of the rest of their songs would be Bring The Noise!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Most people like Edguy and Sonata Arctica when getting introduced to modern age metal, also try Nightwish or Within Temptation and Kamelot!.!.

Try
Pink Floyd - Dark Side Of The MoonWww@Enter-QA@Com

well you should start off with songs that you have heard rappers use that are hip hop that have other rock songs in them!.

nas did a song called hip hop is dead and the guitar that you heard is the riff from "Inda gareh uh eda" (i think that is how you spell it) and that is by neon butterfly!.

also little jon and the east side boys did a song with ozzies crazy train riff in it so you should try starting with those!. it is the one were it is like "Only haters Talk S*it"

just start with tunes where you will recognize a part of it!. thats why I like those songs!.

also, try lisening to everlasts- what it's like, or sublime's -april 26 1992!.

those are alternative bands but those songs have a nice hip hop/ chill sound to them!.

I think sexymcmanpants means 'Inna-Gadda-Da-Vida' by Iron Butterfly!.

Dunno if I agree though!.

I reckon you are certainly on the right track with what you have started out on!.
Classic Rock is the best start!.
I guess you may like specifically bass driven bands!.

Trying to think!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.

Cream, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Parliament, Sly and The Family Stone (we're getting into funk now), TV on the Radio are a newish band you might like, or The Pixies!?

It's tricky because, as you say, it's probably better for a hip-hop fan to help you!.

Hope that was some help tho'Www@Enter-QA@Com
