Get a capo and put it on the first fret!. That will solve your problem!.
Then you just have to put your fingers down in the pattern of an E chord only up a fret!.

You can't really "replace" an F chord!. It depends on what song you're playing!. There is an open F chord that's easier than the bar chord, but the bar chord gets a fuller sound!. Unless of course you're playing acoustic, which may be why it's hard to bar it!.
