Answers:
Flipping the strings on most acoustic guitars won't work!.
You'll notice that the bridge "saddle" has a slant to it, to keep the guitar in tune as you play up the neck!.

If you flip the strings, the guitar will sound WAY out of tune anywhere from about the 5th fret on up, since the angle of the saddle now goes the WRONG way!.

Plus, the guitar is braced heavier on the "bass" string side, to handle the heavier pull of the bass strings on the top of the guitar,
and less bracing on the treble side, to sound better,

Again, the bracing will be wrong, so the top of the guitar will probably start to pull up!. No one knows just how long it will, take, depends on how heavy the top is, and how heavy the strings are, but I have seen this happen!.

Actually, I have had left handed friends play the guitar in the right handed position,
and they do BETTER when they start out playing!.

You/they have more dexterity in your left hand, which is the important one for fingering, so you will probably learn quicker to start with,

Right handers have the dexterity in their right hand, and all that hand does at first, is pick the strings!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Ok Christi Hendrix, the main problem you will run into when you are playing a guitar backwords is the nut!. That is the thing that the strings run through on their way to the tuning keys!. You may have to flip the nut if you want to play a right handed guitar left handed, you will see what I mean when you try to string it, on most electric guitars flipping the nut may not be that hard!. I am not sure what your acoustic electic will be like!. Take it to somebody who knows a lot about guitars or a music store if you have this problem!.

If you are just learning to play the guitar you could always try to learn right handed, some of the best guitar players I know are left handed and play the instrument right handed!. Remember the guitar is going to feel akward either way you play it when you are first learning!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

nah, you can just flip the strings!.
or learn to play right handed!.
which is what i'm doing!.
i'm a lefty too!. [:Www@Enter-QA@Com
