Kirk is an amazing guitarist and has influenced many many musicians and still does!.
But in my opinion
Tom Morello takes this whole different approach to his guitar and his playing!. I mean the first Rage album stated that no synths were used in the recordings, just to assure the public that "yes that is Tom making the awesome noises"!.
It seems as if Tom was influenced by Jimi, because like Tom, Jimi was constantly trying to get the sounds he heard in his head come out through his playing!. There was a lot of experimentation going on there!.
I would have to go with Jimi!. Besides the term "heavy metal" was first used to describe Jimi's playing!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Jimi Hendrix would win!. I have all the respect in the world for Kirk Hammet and Tom Morello, but Jimi is the greatest guitarist ever!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
