Is Pink Floyd psychedelic rock, or progressive rock?!
Question: Is Pink Floyd psychedelic rock, or progressive rock!?
I can't find out which!. They contain the characteristics of both genres, and I am just not able to figure out which one they belong to!. I also heard somewhere they are "space rock!." Any help at all!?Www@Enter-QA@Com

All of your definitions are correct!. Their albums with the original singer, Syd Barret, were certainly psychedelic, and they had highly influential psychedelic hits like "Bike" and "See Emily Play!." After Syd Barret's heavy acid dropping caused the other members to kick him out, Roger Waters took the band in an avant-garde direction, with virtually non-musical albums and songs like "Atom Heart Mother" and "Several Species Of Small Furry Animals Gathered In A Cave And Grooving With A Pict!." After several of those (annoying, imo) albums, they went in more of a prog rock/space rock direction, which is where they've stayed ever since, with albums like "Dark Side Of The Moon" and "The Wall!."
So really, Pink Floyd has had lots of different genres:
Psychedelic rock
Avant Garde/Expiremental
Progressive rock
Space Rock
Art rock!.

All the classification of music today is BS! I love Pink Floyd and I would just call it Classic Rock at the most!. Sure to some it is Psychedelic and to some it is Space and to some it is progressive!. Everyone is searching to be different as musicians and fans!. I think that is where this explosion of genres and sub genres has come from!. I find it really annoying myself!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
Their earliest materials were more along the lines of psychedelic rock!. I would say the departure of Syd Barrett led the band in a more progressive direction, and this really begins to shine through on Atom Heart Mother and albums afterwards when they incorporated many complex time signatures and introduced more theatrical elements into their music!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

i would lean more toward psychedelic but like another person i would put them in classic rock!.!.!. so you know it really doesnt matter they are rock and good so enogh said just enjoy!.!.!.!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
