licks are leads

i would have to say i prefer one lead guitar and one rhythm guitarWww@Enter-QA@Com

I think it would be cool to combined them both!.
You can actually have many options to this question

OPTION 1:
You have your lead guitarist that plays all leads & your rythm guitarist that plays some leads with the lead guitarist, making it a duel guitar solo!. An example of that would be Avenged Sevenfold

OPTION 2:
You have 3 guitarists!. You got your Lead guitarist playing all leads, second guitarist can play both, & your third guitarist plays all rythm!. An example of that is Iron Maiden

OPTION 3:
2 guitarists that switch between leads & rythm!. An example of that would be Slayer

As you may have noticed, many bands can have different combinations with guitar players!. They can all be different things, its just up to you to decide what you want your band to do(if you consider starting one), but im just throwing out random ideas!.

Hope that helpedWww@Enter-QA@Com

Good Question!.

Of course, both are good if the Band is good, but "Twin Leads" make-up Less Than 5% of Rock Bands --

So, when you get the chance to see, Priest, Wishbone Ash, or even the Freakin' Eagles - It's so nice to see great Guitarists playing-off each other IMO

One lead and one rhythm is good!.
Maybe for some songs you could have twin solo's!.
Bands like dragonforce have more than one guitarist and their songs are awesome, look at through the fire and the flames!. Twin solo's sound good and look good!
But generally i'd say stick with the rhythm and soloist!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Definately a rtythm and a lead!. If the rythm player can jump into what I call "lead style" to push some power under the solos, sweet, but definately need a rythm player to compliment the bass and drive the songs!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

One rhythm and one lead!. Otherwise, it becomes like a "battle" for who is better and for the prime solo!. A song sounds more coherent with lead and rhythm!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

two leads is really bad idea!. i had 2 leads in my band once and we fought constantly over who should play what!.

i'd say the best combo would be to have 2 rhythm and one lead!. switch up now and then its funWww@Enter-QA@Com

Normally lead and Rhythm but in bands like The Allman Brothers Dickey and Duane definitely made the right choice in both playing lead!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

2 lead players!. You will have 2 different styles doing the leads trading off between one anotherWww@Enter-QA@Com

One rhythm/riffer and one soloist/licker!.

I like to know who's playing!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
