What do you consider good and bad rock music?!
Question: What do you consider good and bad rock music!?
The music I grew up on was rap, blues, gospel, and r&b since birth!. But I didn't really care for music like I do now!. However when I got older I started listening to rock that was on the radio!.However I'm told it's just watered down pop bs!. Just like with most mainstream rap(I agree on)!.
But I need to know what exactly is the line and difference between good classic rock and pop crap!.
Exa: I started to listen to them in middle school: Avril Lavigne, Nickelback, Simple Plam, Good Charlottle, Jimmy Eat World!.
Exa: Now, in High School I listen to Pearl Jam, the Strokes, Sex Pistols, Living Colour,Gun 'n' Roses, the Ramones, and Red Hot Chilli Peppers!.
I kind of hear the difference between the old classics and whats on the radio!. But I need FULL ASSURANCE of whats good rock!. I want good quality rock, so please help!. Such as telling me about guitar riffs, message behind the songs, and just plainly if the examples I gave is pop or bad alternative please explain why with details!Www@Enter-QA@Com

We can't really tell you what is good and bad rock music since it is an opinion!. We don't set the standard for what's good and what's not!. You say you need FULL ASSURANCE, well we can't give you that since there is no set definition of what's good!.
BUT I will tell you what my idea of good and bad rock music is!.
Bad rock: Trivium, Fall Out Boy, Boys Like Girls!.
Good rock: Norther, Carcass, Opeth!.!.!.(this though is only metal, there's other kinds of good rock)
Now my reason for listing Trivium as bad, is not because I don't like the genre of Metalcore, because there are some very good bands in that genre!. But Trivium doesn't sound original, they just blend in in the back of the group with all the other bands!.
As for Fall Out Boy- I didn't say them because I'm a hater!. The genre of Pop Punk is not really "bad"!. just not my cup of tea!. I think there are some good Pop Punk bands!.!.!.but the band Fall Out Boy is one of those that just sound flat out BAD!.
Now for Boys Like Girls- they aren't original, and sound the same as every other band on MTV!.
Generally, I don't have a band that I think is bad, because actually those bands are good FOR THEIR GENRE OR TYPE OF MUSIC!. Some bands are just not for me!.!.!.!.not my kind of music!. But I had to think really hard on what bands I actually considered 'bad' for their genre and just music in general!.

kinda the way i think of it is if its a good song to dance to (fallout boy and such) its some kind of pop or alternative or whatever name they use for it these days (i dont listen to much radio anymore, unless its a classic rock station)

I did, too!. That's All my parents listened to! But I broke away from that stuff!.
I think the difference is good rock has to have A LOT of energy and has to be orginal!. All of the bands that you used to like sounds the same and what you listen to now is wildly different than the next band on that list!.!.

what makes a band good in my opinion is that there is actually meaning in the songs from back then and in many now there really isn't!. it lacks originality now and plus they didn't need all the sound effects and stuff that we have now to "make it sound better"!. they dont scream and whine in half their songs like some of the poser bands that are out there now!. they know how to rock and have done since they were young!. not all but most of them neways!.!.!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

You can't place the blame fully on the band!. Some people start to dislike them due to the personalities of the fanbase!.
I think the music you listen to, now in high school is a good change, and you can improve!.
Today many bands are labeled "Punk, Alternative and Indie" they could be further from the truth!. Most modern day bands labeled that are usually pop-rock (and sound nothing like punk), mainstream and signed to a major record label!. But, hey; If you like them, then that's your opinion!.

To me it comes down to meaning and talent needed to play and write the song!. There is no denying that "Dance Dance" or whatever can't compare to a song like "Stairway to Heaven" in terms of instrumentals or writing!.
These Panic, FOB, MCR bands are popular fluff rock that really don't contain varied sounds nor do they make you think!. I'll use "Stairway to Heaven" again, it has great instrumentals, vocals, and an actual thought provoking message while any pop band produces stuff that is merely catchy!.
Another band like Nickelback is a great example of no varied sound, most of their stuff sounds the same and is either about a rock lifestlye or a breakup!.
Bands like Led Zeppelin, Guns N' Roses, Metallica, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and even softer stuff like Boston, Foreigner, and Kansas are what I'd call good classic and 80's rock!. Today's music, "pop music", is stale!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

the difference between good classic rock and pop crap is simple and obvious, beats, tones, instruments!. the examples you used when you first started listening to this music is all mainstream, what most kids would listen to!. radio hits!. you know!. the second example is just classic rock, which probably in their time use to be "mainstream" really, there's not much of a difference except time!. you cant really say the message is different, because no song really has the same message!.
panic at the disco and my chem and all those bands you mentioned are in no way punk!. i can see how they are rock!. but it's just mod, electronics and such!. real punk goes deeper than the ramones!. you can't even find punk on a satillite radio!. generally punk bands sung about pollitics, but not all of them!.

I think you have to draw your own line on what you think is good or bad rock!. My personal favorites of the ones you listed are jimmy eat world and red hot chili peppers!. I like more of the alternative rock as opposed to the hardcore rock or the 'pop crap'!. My most favorite number one band is Incubus!. They aren't on the radio repeatedly, but i like that their songs arent overplayed to death!.!.!.personally, i think bands like fall out boy and panic at the disco sound all the same!.!.!.sometimes the singers sound like women!.!.but thats just me!. I think good rock is bands like Incubus, Sublime, Taking Back Sunday, Deftones, Oasis, maybe some Pink Floyd!.!.!.but, again, you have to determine what is good and what is crap by yourselfWww@Enter-QA@Com
