That's about 1% of the job
If ya gotta ask,
the answer is your not ready
Could you eventually learn!?
Sure but you've got a LOT to learn and a LONG way to go
The producers that I've worked with have ALL spent 20-30 years working first, playing, working as a recording engineer apprentice!.
Most are musicians that have played professional for YEARS, out on the road, so they understand what the musician is trying to say, and can give them real recommendations, based on real experiences, not just personal opinions!.
Good producers have YEARS of experience, and understand ALL the various processes in playing, recording, mixdown, and the psychology of listening to the artists, the writers, the singers, the musicians, interpreting it all,
THEN pulling it all together, into a good package!.
COULD you learn it!?
Of course,
but it will take years!.
