How can I keep my tonic during the musical dictation. do you know some strategy?!

Question: How can I keep my tonic during the musical dictation!. do you know some strategy!? How can I study!?
Answers:
It's a matter of continued practice, just like any other skill!. Once you are given the tonic, try humming it to yourself for reinforcement, and then keep it playing in your "inner ear"!. Easier said than done, but after continued practice, it becomes automatic!.

I have noticed that if I take an extended break from dictation, my ability to do this declines, and so I must retrain myself!. I like to strike a note on the piano and see how long I can keep it in my head while I perform other tasks!. I also have a number of pieces in different keys that I keep in my head that I am so familiar with that I can hear their tonics at any time and use them as a frame of reference when I am trying to find a pitch -- since I do not have absolute pitch!.

Sorry about that long run-on sentence

Good luck, and don't give up!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Even if a pianist does not have perfect pitch, they can benefit from understanding what a person who is blessed with perfect pitch is listening for: It's not the highness or the lowness of the sound that defines the pitch-- it's the sound's personality!.
