What band was most affected by a lineup change? positive or negative?!

Question: What band was most affected by a lineup change!? positive or negative!?
Metallica could never replace Cliff with anybody that could retain the pure spirit of the band, so they get a vote from me

on the positive side, Megadeth greatly benefitted from getting Marty Friedman as long as they did

also, Corrosion of Conformity could go either way with Pepper Keenan!.!.!.I say positive

Anthrax trudged on somewhat successfully using John Bush to replace Injun Joe, but when they lost Danny Spitz!.!.!.fuggetaboutitWww@Enter-QA@Com

Answers:
these have already been mentioned, but i will reiterate the points made:

people forget that ringo was not the original beatles drummer!.!.!.a lot of folks underrate him because there was never anything really outstanding that he added to any one beatles song, but he was a master at adding rhythm to their work

people also forget that dave grohl was not nirvana's original drummer, but i think he is the most underrated drummer in history, he definitely displayed his ability to play on the majority of their work with him!.!.!.his work and krist novoselic's is ignored sometimes due to the towering shadow that is kurt cobain

however, there were some bad changes!.!.!.the worst possible change was axl rose's destruction of gnr, he eliminated all the talent from that band in order to save his own ego!.!.!.cause lord knows axl doesn't bring talent to the table

van halen was a great band with diamond dave as well, but playing musical chairs with lead singers and replacing dlr with sammy hagar and even worse gary cherone was ridiculous

also, queen trying to replace freddy mercury at all is blasphemy!.!.!.there will never be another freddy mercuryWww@Enter-QA@Com

Metallica was also negatively affected by getting rid of Newsted!. He was an okay bassist(incomparable to Cliff), but did killer back up vocals, and when he sung lead for the few times he did, he was awesome!. The backup vocals suck now that Rob and Kirk have to do them!.

Rob would be god if he could do back up vocals, because we all know Kirk can't!.

Queen was also negatively affected by Paul Rogers trying to replace Freddie!. You can NEVER replace the awesome dude that was Freddie Mercury!. Hell, Freddie WAS Queen!. A Freddieless Queen can't even be considered as Queen!.

Michael Graves replacing Glenn in the Misfits was also odd, but not horrible!. American Psycho was an awesome album (Famous Monsters!.!.!.!.not so much)!. Hell, even Project 1950 with Jerry Only on vocals wasn't that bad!.

Blaze Bayley replacing Bruce Dickinson in Iron Maiden was also bad!. At least Bruce is back now!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Queen!. Freddie Mercury and John Deacon are irreplaceable!. I like Paul Rodgers but!.!.COME ON! It upsets me that they tried to replace them!.
Journey!. Their new singer is certainly good!. Still not Steve Perry!.
Pantera!. Plain!. Simple!. Pantera!. Period!.
Personally I don't like Def Leppard's guitarist either (Vivian Campbell replaced Steve Clark) , though it didn't have much of an effectWww@Enter-QA@Com

Rush & The Beatles!.

With Rush, the switch from John Rutsey (RIP) to Neil Peart was an ENORMOUS positive change for them!. I doubt they would've made it past 1978 without him!.

The Beatles gaining Ringo was the icing on that magical cake!. In recent years, it's been "cool" to knock Ringo & I say it's BS!. I challenge anyone to come up w/ a *rock* drummer who came before him w!. a memorable personality!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

LYNYRD SKYNYRD when they lost ronnie steve and cassie
johnnies ok but he isnt ronnie!.and the music they put out since 1991 is vastly underrated radio is stuck in the 70s when it comes to their music !.theres alot of good skynyrd tunes that nobody knows because they havent heard the music that theyve put out in the last twenty yrsWww@Enter-QA@Com

The Clash when they continued to play and record after booting Mick Jones from the band!. (That didn't last long)!.
The Rolling Stones when Brian Jones died!. His death made Mick Jagger the undisputed "star" of the band, and changed the band's musical direction!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Pantera losing Dimebag Darrell was the worst because they never refilled the position therefore they made no more albums R!.I!.P!. Dimebag!Www@Enter-QA@Com

Van Halen!.they lost a few fans when Sammy took over and even more when Gary Cheron took the mike!.

AC/DC I think they became more popular when Brian took over!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
