Everything that guy said about image and bands could have been right out of my mouth! Good answer!

The harder a band tries to make an "image" the less interesting they become to me!. Avenged Sevenfold is a great example of it!. Makeup, tats, and torn clothes does NOT make you any better of a musician!

I have far more respect for a band who just wears whatever, or just bothers to be roughly matching (all black, etc) then bands who dress up in costumes!.!.!. and yes, dressing "punk" is a costume!.

Sadly, not everyone is like me, and millions of stupid people buy into the lie that clothes and an attitude make you a different or better person!.!.!.!. that having a new car or jewelry or a boob job makes you happy or !.!.!.!. god, whatever!.

I know that the government wants us to be scared and buy things to make us feel better, but it doesn't mean that I have to like the music they pimp out to us with all these stupid skin puppets playing crappy music and wearing "expensive" clothes made in third world countries by underage children paid cents a day!.!.!.!.

Okay, I gotta stop!. That's turning into a full-blown rant!.!.!. Rap and stupid pop music isn't evil per se, it's merely one of the symptoms of the disease!.!.!.

It didnt worry me that Metallica cut their hair, it's when they wen't all alternative that annoyed me

Anyway they would of had to cut their hair any way or you could end up like this

that picture gives me nightmaresWww@Enter-QA@Com

physical image means nothing to me, I care more about musical talent and sound!.
but image as in who they are personally and what they have done in their life, I pay attention to that; if I disagree or even hate someone in the band then I dont listen to them!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I would say that to most people image is important, thats why some bands are mainstream (Fall Out Boy), but to me It's not I like to LISTEN to the songs, and if they don't sound good it doesn't matter how good looking the band is!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

i don't really think image is all that important to the success of a band, it does add something but it doesn't really adjust the value of the music itself!.!.!.and as you can see, image doesn't mean much to me as a fanWww@Enter-QA@Com

With todays current generation!.!.!.a lot, (sales, popularity) not talent!.

I don't care what the band looks like!. I only listen to them if I like the music they play!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I like cartoons so I don't care what the band looks like!.!.!.back in the day I chased heavy metal long hairs, and punk buzzers, but now I get off on a cool animated vid!.!.!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Fat-Lip 27 is my new hero!. I agree with 100% of the points he made on there!. You can't say it any better than that!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

it doesn't matter that much to me unless they dress like fall out boy or somehting horrible like that I don't care!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

well i listen to bands because of there music, not there looksWww@Enter-QA@Com

Rule #1 On Image: If you have to wear masks, excessive make up, or face paint, I don't want anything to do with that band!. Kiss, Slipknot, Marylin Manson, I'm looking in your direction!. Something about covering your face makes it seem to me that you're trying too hard on displaying an image or working too hard on theatrics to worry about your music!. However, Manson is very artistic and Slipknot are very talented, but I just won't listen to them at all!. I think rule #1 was first adopted because of Kiss and the way they sold out during their prime, long before their first of many farewell tours!. I hate Kiss, don't like their music, and highly question their integrity, but I do respect Gene Simmons, because I'm more scared of him without the face paint than I am of him when he wears it!.

Rule #1!.a On Image-- First of all, I'm a guy who refuses to shave on a daily basis and I only wash my clothes if their longstanding odor isn't too offensive to me!. I also don't care if my haircut isn't "punk enough" or if I'm wearing enough black clothes from Hot Topic so the whole world knows I'm expressing myself by letting people know I listen to Punk Rock and Metal music, nor do I worry that my lack of tats and piercings makes me any less punk or metal!. If I find that a band seems to go out of their way to work a bit too hard on their image, then I'm turned off!. Anti-Flag and AFI, when they signed to Major Labels come to mind!. Travis Barker is another guy who went from being a punk rock drummer to being a drummer who has a punk image to go with his punk "attitude!."

When I go to a concert, I don't want to have to wait for a band to come on stage because they don't look punk or metal enough to get on stage yet!. They're guyliner isn't quite dark or guy enough yet, but a few coats of it will do the trick!. Or their Liberty Spikes looks too punk and not faux enough!. NO, NONE OF THAT! Bands that I used to like before I saw a picture of them: Aiden (don't laugh), and Avenged Sevenfold (I'm thinking the fact that they signed to a major label has something to do with it!. That and I really hate Bat Country)!.

Don't get me wrong, I listen to a band's music first before I ever see what they look like (that is to say, if I ever find out what they look like), but bands who "look like me" always get preferential treatment on my song rotation (mp3, PC, or car stereo)!. When I see bands like Bad Religion, A Wilhelm Scream, Darkest Hour, Hatebreed on stage and you have a Jamey Jasta wearing a baseball hat, a band's t-shirt, shorts and regular boots, I can appreciate that!. When I see John Henry refuse to take his glasses off for a photo, I say to myself, "Hey, I wear glasses and this guy looks like a total nerd like I do and we both like our music loud and with some substance to it!" When I see Greg Graffin's clothes and I can't recognize the brand names, I can relate to it because I sometimes have a hard time figuring out what brand of clothing I'm wearing 75% of the time!.

Against Me! go on stage wearing all black! No corporate sponsored t-shirts, no band t-shirts (other bands or their own), and regular black boots!. I think that's the coolest thing ever and they're more punk than any other fashionably conscious, popular faux punk rawk band out there (you hear that Mindless Self Indulgence!?)Www@Enter-QA@Com
