What rock band that are considered metal do you think should not be called a met!
Question: What rock band that are considered metal do you think should not be called a metal band!?
In my opinion posers like Slipknot should not even be allowed to be anywhere near the metal genre, and basically any of the nu metal bullshit!. Can you think of any band like that !?Www@Enter-QA@Com

Its a slippery slope!.
I agree to a degree that someof these bands eare more just Alt Rock than anything, and Metal gets bandied around too easy!.
But too many bands today are right on the edge, or ccrossover both ways!.
NuMetal is a good example!. I hate Slipknot and Korn!.!.!.!. but they really aren't Alt Rock, so much!. Why we had to make a new Genre for them IDK!.!.!. instead of just saying they are sh*tty Metal Bands (which do exist)!.
Disturbed is Alt Rock, pure and simple!.
But then, I can think of 3 bands classified as NuMetal that IMO and manyothers are just METAL!.!.!. Sevendust, Otep and Kittie!.
Of those!.!.!. Kittie is the most traditional!.!.!. they used sample some!.!.but not much!. Sevendust is definitely a unique sound!.!.!. but why pigeonhole them for being differnet!. Ditto with Otep!.
Then there are bands that willl alwys be debated!. Like Evanescence!.!. some of their songs ARE Alt Metal, Some Goth Rock and some just plain Alt Rock!. (And hell!.!.!. Metallicas Laod and Reload were closer to Alt Rock than Metal)
And thats part of the problem!.!.!.!.!. too many bands today play across so many parts of the spectrum, and slip aroung Genres so much!.!.!. trying to label who IS or who ISN'T seems like a bit of a futile effort!.

Jethro Tull!. They even beat out Metallica and Iron Maiden for a Grammy in the "Heavy Metal" category in 1989 (the first year for the category)!. When Metallica won the Grammy in 1992, lars Ulrich thanked Jethro Tull (jokingly) for "not putting out an album this year"!.
