I just saw the video clip, and it shows all this violence between civilians i guess and the police!? Seemed like a love song to me through the lyrics:

So I take that the other girl in the red is the one he loves!. So what's with her smashing the glass and that!? People dancing around and the police!? I getting mixed intepretations!.!. Any help!?

It's true that it can be interpretted as love, but in my opinion he is talking about the human race in general!.
Bitter seeds and poison leaves could well be the farmers who make the food (a push, I know) but certainly I'm the left eye, you're the right is reference to the futility of war!.
