there is a show here in New Braunfels Tx!. it is live every Tuesday and hosted by Ray Wylie!. about a month ago they had Jerry Jeff as a guest and they told the story about how the song came to be!. Back in the early 70's they were in New Mexico and they were up late writing songs, they ran out of beer so they sent Ray to the only place left open in town to by beer it was a rough bar and Ray ended up getting beat down!.
