For the same reason that you need to know all the chords and notes for playing keyboard -- classical or otherwise!. It's part of being a total musician, understanding the "grammar" of music!. And knowing your instrument, and all the shapes and configurations and the "feel" of it!.

i suppose that you can find a piece of music that dosent require knowledge of all notes if that is all that you want to play, but sooner or later thay all come up and not just in classical music!.
also that is not all of the notes, there are sharpes and flats and we havent even talked about choards!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
