Minor quibbling: the "top" of the guitar's fretboard is where the thinnest string is, the one that makes the highest pitch!. The "bottom" of the fretboard is where the thicker strings are, the ones that make the deeper, lower notes!.

"Up" = higher pitch, "Down" = lower pitch!. The 1st string is the high E string, the 2nd is the B string, the third is the G string, etc!. EADGBE is from 6th to 1st, thickest to thinnest, lowest to highest, bottom to top, deepest to highest (in pitch)!.

Tab doesn't tell you which finger to use, it only tells you which note to play!. Sometimes you have to mess around to figure it out, or read a good book or website or video, etc!.

3x0033 = G5!. Read the notes from left to right exactly like you would the guitar !.!.!.!. EADGBE!. So the first number corresponds to the 6th string, the low E!. On that string, you want to fret the third fret!. 'x' means mute or don't play, so the 5th string, the A string, is muffled!. I usually lean a finger over an 'x' so it gets muted - the finger varies with the chord!. 0 = play a string but don't fret it, so D and G strings aren't fretted, and B and E are fretted also at the third fret!. I use my pinky and ring finger to fret these notes with this chord!.

Once all your fingers are in place, play each string separately, one at a time, to make sure you've got it right!. If a string buzzes or is muffled when it shouldn't be, then try again!. Do that enough and you'll play perfect chords!.!.!. which will make you sound like you kinda know what you're doing!. =)

I notice you have two variations of G!. Practice them both, and use whichever one fits best!.

Good luck!

If your holding your guitar like your going to play, then the 6 strings from top to bottom should be tuned to these notes!. e,a,d,g,b,e!. The lines running along side of these notes are the strings!. The seperated lines that are dividing these strings are called frets and the x''s are where you need to place your fingers!. So on the last string "e" you will need to place your finger on the third fret down!. You will have to figure out which fingers to use unless this book indicates this!. For this particaular chord it would be your ring finger or third!. Next you will need to place another finger ( index finger ) on the second fret on the A string and the last finger ( middle ) on the 3rd fret on the top "e" string!. All the other strings in this particular chord are refered to as open strings, which means they are to be strummed also, but without putting a finger on any of the strings!. I hope this helps!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
