Ah, def award shows!. They get big cash and freebie swag worth tens and thousands of dollars!. also, free advertisement!. They get endorsement deals mostly overseas!. Like for example, in China!. Both actors and musicians receive millions of dollars by advertising a foreign product, such as baby diapers, without their fans in the US not finding out, because obviously their selling out!. They do get paid serious cash for private performances!. Like 50cent, charges 125,000 per song!. They get paid for showing up to parties and for wearing certain clothes or for even just being pictured "shopping" at their store!. For example, if Justin Tiberlake agreed to be pictured wearing a Billabong shirt he can receive up to 5,000 dollars including free stuff!. Most of this doesn't just apply to musicians!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Touring puts a lot of money in their pockets!. More than cd sales do!. However, the more established bands make even more money from merchandising (i!.e!. selling the use of a song for a tv commercial)!. I just read an article about this that featured David Byrne (Talking Heads) interviewing Thom Yorke (Radiohead)!. And they both said they've made more money from merchandising than cd sales & touring sales put-together!. Radiohead put their newest cd for sale on the net with a price tag of !?!?!?!.!.!. You could pay nothing or you could pay a dollar or any amount you wanted to pay!. They ended up making 3 million dollars by doing this!. This money went strait to the band since they no longer have a recording contract!. So they didn't have to 'share' with the big corporate studios!. Now, they can hire their own distributor to put the cd 'in-stores' and that will cut out the big-wigs too!. It worked for them so the big studios should take note!.!.!. ;PWww@Enter-QA@Com

Well!.!.!. I've been a professional musician for over 50 years!.!.!. I have a home in Missouri (the old family home, left to me when my father died) that is near to Branson so it's convenient for me to keep it for when I play there!.!.!. I have a small house on Corpus Christi Bay that I use when I'm playing in Texas and the Gulf Coast and I live on my boat in Antigua for 7 months every year!.

By most standards, I am a wealthy musician!.!. and I got it the honest way!.!. my FATHER was a successful Industrialist and I was his only child and when he died!.!.!. he left me EVERYTHING!.!.!.

And THAT is how most professional musicians get rich!.!.!. Otherwise, it's a hand to mouth existanceWww@Enter-QA@Com

It depends on the group, but most bands trying to make it off just their first album rely heavily on touring sales and merch sales!.

Bigger groups can negotiate with their labels to get a bigger portion of album sales but give up a certain percentage of touring and merch as well!.

It's all changing along with the decline of record sales, but for now, it's mostly still tours and merch!. Most bands aren't as rich as you'd think!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

They get a percentage of the concerts/touring and album sales!.!.!. That's it!. Producers and the execs make the big money, not the artists!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
