I'm only 13 and i'm one of the few people in my school who hates the new MTV!.

It used to be great, when they had Headbanger's Ball, and actually played music!. Now it's all reality show junk, and when they do play music its always crap!

I watched it from late '82 until about '88 or '89!.
I liked the original VJ's - they were mostly charming, engaging, friendly types - seemed like plain old music fans who, if you could meet them after work, you could go with them to a bar, have a few beers and just talk music!.
The videos they played were quite variable in quality, of course, and the selection could sometimes be baffling, but it was still a fairly new medium, and a number of clever, entertaining videos were produced!.
I stopped following it when my generation, one might say, got passed over in favor of the next one along!. MTV tried getting younger, more hip - IMHO - and I just felt like it wasn't going to be very interesting for me!. But the way it is now!? I don't watch it, but everyone I know who pays any attention to it at all wonders how it has the nerve to call itself MTV when the M is no longer part of it!?

I found a video of some chick ranting about MTV, but it was stupid!. BUT she made a point that MTV tried one reality show (real world), so they tried another (road rules), then it all went down hill when reality started ruling the world!. Hey! Lets put more "reality" shows on MTV!

Now it's all reality TV, and the odd music video once every few hours- and the music video is something by fallout boy or something that would fall into the 'gangster' genre of music!.

Yep, it was!. It once showed a wonderful thing known as a "music video!."
It changed by focusing less and less on music and more on inane, silly individuals and false realities!.

Yeah MTV was cool in the 80's when it came to the music videos, even in the early 90's when the brought in Beavis & Butthead it was still cool, because they showcased videos on their show whether it was cool or it sucked lol, but then came Road Rules, The Real World and TRL and MTV turned into **** showcasing crap like NSYNC, Backstreet Boys and Creed!. Now MTV is just a crappy reality show channel

yeah it was great!. they actually played music videos from day to night!. it was also a great source for finding new bands and discovering new music!. now it's nothing but a money-hungry corporation that appeals to teenie boppers just like Disney!.
