Answers:
you are describing a basic bass and a small amp (right!?)
turn the knobs on your bass all the way up and set it to the bridge pickup (initially) on the amp; set the bass @8-10, mid @ 4-6, treble @ 5-7, Presence @ 5-8 volume as you please,
use your fingers for a beefier tone (no pick) If you do use a pick then decrease the treble and presence!.
These settings are just a starting point, so experiment from there, especially with pickup settings!.
Bass does not usually use distortion (thats why bass amps dont have it) but it is fun to mess with! chorus is a great effect for the bass! so is an envelope filter! check them out!Www@Enter-QA@Com

turn your bass setting nearly all the way up, turn you treble and mids three quarters of the way up, turn your gain up half way or more then you should be able to control your volume as you please and have a good rock sound!. It would be easier to help you if i knew what kind of bass amp you have!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Go to any pawn shops and you can get a FX pedal for around 60 bucks most have a heavy metal setting!.And if you want to trick it out more buy a wa pedal like Rage Against The Machine Uses to get the sound on Bulls On ParadeWww@Enter-QA@Com
