What solo violin pieces can I play at a wedding?!
Question: What solo violin pieces can I play at a wedding!?
I was asked to play violin by myself at a wedding!. I've done a lot of ensemble playing at weddings, but I don't really have much music that I can play alone!. I am just going to be background music, so it doesn't exactly have to be "wedding music," but there still isn't that much to play all by myself!. Right now I'm thinking of just playing some nice sounding etudes!. Any other suggestions!?Www@Enter-QA@Com

I would look at Corelli's violin sonatas!.
I know they aren't necessarily "solo", but if you take
the melodies from some of them, they are astonishingly
beautiful all on their own (especially if well played)!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Jesu and Canon are more chamber pieces, so I'd choose something like Meditation or Ave Maria!. Something that will sound pretty alone and will be enough of a melody without a piano or other instruments!. These would be for background during the wedding, while they're doing flowers to the parents, or lighting candles, etc!. If you're looking for background music for before the ceremony, just use light hearted pieces that you already know from your own repertoire!. Nothing too virtuosic and nothing too heavy, you want everyone to be in a good mood!Www@Enter-QA@Com
The Swan is a cello piece!. I'd play solo Bach or melody lines from other works!. Popular ones include pachelbel (yuck), Air on the G string, Fireworks, Water Music, Mouret Rondo, etc!.
