Answers:
Try an envelope filter w/ a little fuzz!. This will give you an "electronic" sounding metal crunch!. If you have an envelope filter with cutoff and resonance controlls, have another person use those while you play to give a kind of "controlled phaser" effect- this makes good rhythm guitar riffs!.

Try a Boss Distortion pedal, and compressor for a hollowed out or muffled sound!.

Get a line6 pod or amp and just play with it for a few hours!.

Try an ebow for a really cool sustain- couple this with some reverb and a little overdrive and see how that sounds!.

Google free vst plugins and load up on free effects for computer processing/ recording!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I'm not sure that I understand exactly what you are asking!.!.!.you don't want distortion, but you want to distort it heavily!?

I have 2 pieces of advice for you

first, turn up the treble and bass, and turn down the midrange

second, run the distortion as early in the effects loop as possible!.!.!.preferably before the amplificationWww@Enter-QA@Com

Hmm, I'd say invest in a multi-effects pedal, or a distortion pedal!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
