Question: My Secret: I want to Sing in a Band!?
I've always wanted to sing in a band that sounds like Taking Back Sunday, but when I think about actually following my heart, I always have a million things run around in my head!.
My main problem is I dont know if my voice is good, I was thinking about posting me covering a song anonymously on youtube, do you think its a good idea!?
And Im always overthinking it like, "Since I cant play an instrument how will I not look like an idiot while singing on stage", or stuff like "How would I break my nervousness when the time comes to sing in front of the band I get together!?"!.
I dont know what to do I mean, Im the kind of person who REALLY cares what people think of me and dont want to embarass myself, but I feel like I might miss out on a really big thing by not following my feelings here!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

well first of all if you want to go into any performing art you will need to get rid of ALL easy embarasment and over self conscienceness! That will destroy you!. But don't forget to keep you head!. But I have to say its better to be over confident than under confident

do you have musician friends!? first step would be to talk to you musician friends about starting a part time band that does covers (take baby steps and write your music later unless you have a songwriter friend, too) make it like a little social group as well as an intense hobbie
just talk to the briefly about it and let them sleep on it
then i would start voice lessons!. your voice (sorry) is probably damaged from the years of untrained singing (most likely!. a lot of people r naturals and dont hurt theyre voice even w/o training but you may not b one of those people youll have to see) a year of voice will start you off with the technique to come back to your friends about that idea (obviosuly continue voice just i think after a year you should actually start the band) create the monthly or weekly dates youll meet and start as a hobbie!. as you become more serious and you develop popularity and a fan group, launch a myspace or facebook for your band!.!. book your band at a festival contact record deal people
that is just one direction you can go

i think covering a song on youtube is a really good idea so you can get an idea of what people would think of you singing in a band!. try watching concerts of bands that have lead singers that don't play an instrument!. you probably wont be so nervous after you sing in front of people a few times and you'll get used to it!. if its something you really wanna do, just try your best at it and hope for the best!. good luck!. =]Www@Enter-QA@Com

Well being a frontman is ALL about being confident and NOT caring about what others think!.!.!.so!.!.!.right off the bat you are off to a terrible start!. All it takes is practice practice practice just like any other instrument!.

Why don't you try taking voice lessons!? Working with a coach would improve both your singing and your confidence!. They would likely have ideas on local singing groups or competitions you could get involved in!. From there you might meet people who need a band singer!.!.!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

How old are you!.!.!. Lots of people have similar dreams!. I have a friend( 16 yr old) by the way who is giving herself two years after hs to achieve her dream!. Mainly focus on writing lyrics!.!.!. Even if u cant sing for sh !.!.t a band will take u if you can write kick *** lyrics!.!.!. Go for ur dream b/c do u really want to fuqing regret it for the rest of your life!. Dont post ur ****!. youtube pppl are not honest!. Oh and look at Gerard Way he's a lead singer who doesnt play an instrument and he has lots of fun on stage!.
