What is the difference between house music, dance music, electronica, and techno!

Question: What is the difference between house music, dance music, electronica, and techno!?
It seems like house, dance, electronica, and techno are used interchangeably!. I love the ones with vocals!. I love the ones with a good beat, like a hip hop kinda beat with a lot of bass!. Songs with both of those elements are likely to be favored by me!. Help me with knowing what to call it :)

I know I don't like drum and bass or trance!.

If you have a favorite song that you think I would like, please share :)

I will recommend an amazing song: time is now by moloko!. (get the bambino casino mix)Www@Enter-QA@Com

Answers:
They are misused interchangeably by people in the US mostly as they have little or no exposure to real EDM music!. Trance is the most popular music in the world (with house music set to take its place perhaps soon except in Asia), but the US has always been a bit of an anomaly when it comes to club music!. I often play hip-hop rather than the other EDM genres when I'm in the US, whereas everywhere else, I'd be spinning house, trance, techno, etc!. The easiest way to learn the differences is to go to sites like beatport!.com, audiojelly!.com, or trackitdown!.net and listen to the different genres!. The speed, the types of sounds, the kind of beat, and perhaps summing it all up, the so-called "vibe" is also very important!. These are not the only criteria!. An experienced ear will be able to give you a good idea what genre(s) a particular song fit into!. Widely listening to different tracks and seeing how these websites classify them will give you a good idea of how it all works!. Keep in mind that sometimes, the classification used by these sites may be off!. If you're unsure, you should ask a knowledgeable individual!. These genres are NOT the same, and may differ vastly in many cases or there may be some grey space between them!. If anyone tells you they are the same, they don't know what they are talking about!. Subgenres are sometimes considered but they tend to complicate things except in trance where they may clarify them!. It should also be noted that no classification system is universally accepted!. You will notice that different sites will consider some subgenres while others will not!. For example, trance can be split into hard trance, uplifting trance, vocal trance, tech trance, etc!. The following are good examples of each genre!. Listen to all of them and you will have at least a better idea of the differences, even those you don't like!. Keep in mind that these are just the tip of the iceberg!. EDM is diverse!.

Trance:
Uplifting Trance: Mike Nichol - Paradigm; C-Quence - Endorphine
Hard Trance: Alphazone - Flashback; Iridium - The Ascent
Vocal Trance: Oceanlab - Breaking Ties
Tech Trance: Simon Patterson - Bulldozer
Techno: Anthony Rother - Biomechanik
House: Bob Sinclar - World Hold On; Daniel Lindeberg - Razorface
DnB: Noisia + Black Sun Empire - Winter War
Chillout/Lo Fi/Ambient: Rhaban Ali Shai - Sunseeker; Cold Blue - Oasis (Chillout Mix)

The following cases, are a bit different:
Electro (much like house but a bit of a different sound and vibe): DJ Kriss - Sunrise (Toxic Noiz Remix)

Breakbeat or Breaks is much like DnB, but tends to be slower and may lack the "bass" part of drum & bass at times!. Good examples are: SOAK - Miraflores (Retroid Remix) and Aeron Aether - Aeristhesia

Hardcore/Gabber is a very fast form of EDM that typically exceeds 150 BPM!. Sy and Unknown - Gangsta would be a good example!.

Electronica is a general term for music that uses electronic elements but might not be geared toward dancing!.

One you did not mention is Eurodance, which tends to differ from trance or house because it tends to be a "cheesier" sound!. Artists like Cascada and DJ Sammy fit into this category!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
