Answers:
If Kurt Cobain hadn't eaten a shotgun, they would not be held in such high esteem!.

Just the facts!. I was actually around through all of that, and their popularity was actually waning when he shot himself!. Once he did that!.!.!. like so many musicians before him!.!.!.!. he became an "Amazing" musician!.

He was a decent songwriter!.!.!. a relatively lousy guitarist, and was really only popular because NIrvana was so counter culture!.!.!. like the perfect answer to a post New Kids on the Block hangover!.

But don't let a tragic heroin addiction cloud the facts!. Most people I know who have listened to them cold, without any awareness of the pop-culture signifigance, are universally UNDERWHELMED!.

They are cool today, mostly because the Media tells us they are!. Grunge was a fad!.!.!. it is gone!. Not saying that all the music was bad,,, in fact, some was quite good, but Nirvana would never have had the impact on music if Coabin were still alive!.

His drug problems would likely only have relegated him into the role of a footnote!. Honestly!. And the rawness that appelaed to his music would not have lasted!. There is a reason In Utero isnt considered near the album Nevermind is!.

Just think!.!.!.!. Van Halen was super popular because of their edginess when they first hit the scene!.!.!.!.!. by the Hagar days!.!.!. they really werent considered Innovative anymore, because their sound had gotten too studio, too polished!. Cobain at best would have ended up like them, or Metallica, or so many other bands!.!.!. Popular maybe, but only at the expense of alienating his core audience!.

Why the hell do we always romanticize people after they die!? Really!? Some were good!.!.!.some were average, and some raeally werent even that!. But once they die!.!.!. everything is Golden!. I don't get it!. With some!.!.!. it is true we lost some amazing innovation, but others, like Joplin, or Cobain!.!.!.!. They were decent, maybe good!.!.!. but honestly!.!.!.they were NOT great!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I think we would've seen 2 more albums from them, but Cobain's drug problems would lead to a break-up, and the Foo Fighters would have only released their debut album in 2000!.

Most music trends would be delayed for at least 5 years!.!.!.so this Fall Out Boy stuff would only be new in a couple of years!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I think they would have broken up anyway because of Kurt's drug problems!.
AND
they wouldn't be as popular because i think Kurt's death is half of their fame!. I swear, if he wouldn't have died, they wouldn't be as acclaimed as they are todayWww@Enter-QA@Com

I think Kurt would have made Nirvana disband due to his drug use and depression!. I honestly think Dave would have gone on to make more music with a new band and been successful, just like he actually did!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

No!. They would have broken up in 1997!.

I agree with some of these guys!. Rock music would be the same and Nirvana wouldn't be so popular!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

i think they would have gone on a long hiatus cuz of cobain's drug abuse and dave grohl prob would have left the band to start his own project aka foo fighters anywaysWww@Enter-QA@Com

they probably would have had some impact on popular music at the time, and rap/hip hop wouldn't be as prevalent or popular todayWww@Enter-QA@Com

Just like the other rock bands of the 90's, they probably would've been already broken up!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

The state of rock music would still be pretty crappy!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
