Are you looking to just start exploring classic rock!? I started doing that right after I graduated high school about seven years ago, and haven't stopped!.

Some acts that have made the biggest impact on me as a classic rock listener!.!.!.

The Beatles -- Where I started (along with a lot of people)!. They spearheaded the rock movement in the sixties by popularizing a lot of the previously underground trends!. They knew how to write catchy melodies better than anyone !.!.!. ever!. The first rock album I ever bought was The White Album, and the creative goofiness of it really got me hooked!. There's also plenty of good stuff in their '70s solo careers!.

David Bowie -- A musician who had a tremendously prolific and diverse career!. Always seemed to be coming from left field, and his music is always accessible!. The voice takes a little getting used to, but it won't take too long!. Be sure to check out The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust!. If you want more, check out Low, Station to Station, Scary Monsters and Hunky Dory!.

The Rolling Stones -- If you want something harder and meaner, then these guys were the best of the pack!. They were also incredibly diverse, and wrote some of the best tunes in the business!. Let it Bleed and Sticky Fingers are their most iconic albums!.!.!. But my personal favorite is their 1966-1967 psychedelic era featuring Between the Buttons, Flowers and Aftermath!.

The Kinks -- An absolutely essential group if you're interested in good '60s music!. They weren't too terribly popular in America, and their peak albums are very British!. However, if you listen to their albums, you'll see they were some of the coolest rock composers of all time!. "Arthur" and "The Village Green Preservation Society" are masterpieces !.!.!. and check out "Muswell Hillbillies" if you like Americana!.

Peter Gabriel era Genesis -- This band requires you to enjoy long-winded, Medieval inspired music!. However, their stuff is pure magic if you could get into that!. And they're my favorite progressive-rock group from the '70s!. (Phil Collins took over the band in the mid '70s, and it wasn't nearly as good!.) Check out Selling England By the Pound, Foxtrot and The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway!. also, Gabriel's solo career is wonderful!. His 1980 album called Peter Gabriel III [Melt] is one of rock's greatest masterpieces!.

ABBA -- Nobody did pop melodies better than they did!. Some serious rock listeners are afraid to admit they like this group, but that's incredibly silly, of course! Their greatest works are called Arrival, The Album !.!.!. and if you like darker stuff, check out The Visitors!.

Roxy Music -- Brace yourself!. They're incredibly weird!. But once you get to know them, you'll probably become incredibly addicted! (And you can freak out your friends!) They also knew how to carry a catchy tune, but also were a revolutionary group that inspired almost every new wave band in the '80s!. For Your Pleasure and Stranded are my favorites of theirs!. also check out Brian Eno's solo career!.

The Talking Heads -- They're a really fabulous artsy group who reformed funk music for the '80s!. They're also a little strange, but certainly less strange than Roxy Music! "Remain in Light" is considered one of the best albums from the '80s, but be sure to also check out "Fear of Music!."

Kate Bush -- A fitting end to this list!. I didn't start listening to her until somewhat recently (about two and a half years ago), and it really renewed my somewhat waning interest in rock!. She's a great poet and a brilliant, original songwriter!. Once you get into her, you'll never want to return!. Start with "The Kick Inside" (sort of a folky, piano album) and "The Hounds of Love" (more of a mainstream '80s album)!. But I think "The Dreaming" is her masterpiece (it's a strange album, though)!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
