the same question was asked a couple of days ago by SadieJ!. Here is how I answered her question:

Become known in your local churches and branch out from there!. Sing as often and in as many different churches as you can get booking!.

Many church choirs will be taking a long as 1 month off for summer vacation, and quite often fill this time with groups and individuals who contact them!.

If you can get a local following, schedule a concert in one or more of the churches you have sung at, and just take a "free will" offering for your pay, and if you can afford it, record a CD which you can then sell at these concerts!. Once you get known locally, network with the churches and individuals you meet and start branching out!. If you're good, you'll find many people who will want to help you branch out!. You'll be blessed by many supporters, and you might be surprised how one or more of these supporters can help you get a real career started!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

You should definitely post videos of your songs on youtube, hopefully to get recognized, and increase awareness of you songs!. Youtube is a very popular place for people to get noticed!.

You should also get your songs professionally recorded in a studio so if you find a record company, even if it is a small start up company, you can give them the tape so they have an idea of what you bring to the table!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

There's this awesome thing called Networking!. Almost everyone you know knows someone who knows someone!. Basically if you know a guy that knows this producer, you can call that guy and have him call the producer and then you're in! Sometimes it's not that easy but if you keep trying not only will you meet new people but you will understand how networking works and use it more frequently!. You find that person who can set you up on a deal and that's the first step to making it big!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

There is an old (1986) book by Chris Christian called "How to Get Started in Christian Music"!. I'm sure it's hard to find, and out of date, but it has a lot of good ideas!Www@Enter-QA@Com

Find a good Christian fellowship first and foremost!.!.!.
That is how it truly happens!.!.!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
