Pop punk is a more mainstream version of punk!. I would hardly even call it punk!. It has catchy lyrics that can relate to most people!. Blink-182 is VERY pop punk!.
Punk Rock is an umbrella term!. It can mean any of the sub-generes of punk including pop punk!. The Sex Pistols is old school anarcho-punk!. Punk nowdays would consist of bands such as Rancid and NOFX!. They have the anti-society ideas and still have the underground feel with the accessibility of any other artist!.

Pop punk is more accessible and poppier (obviously)!. Pop punk usually has a good hook and is easy to sing along to, while real punk is fast and loud and there's no way you're even going to know all the words!. Real Punk is what you graduate to once you realize pop punk is kinda sissy!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
sex pistols is a bad example, because they were basically just suck but i would say different lyrics, different topics of interest, worse guitar playing and different type of singing!. it depends on the kind of band, regardless of "genre"Www@Enter-QA@Com
Pop punk is definitely more mainstream!. Things like Sum 41 and Blink 182 would be considered pop punk and others like Rancid, Flogging Molly (Irish punk) and the Clash are more of the punk rock variety!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
